Double check you didn’t knock a ground loose or forget to hook it back up. Unless you shorted something, a bad ground is a likely source of the problem.

knock on wood, but in all the stuff I’ve done to this truck and all the similar stuff I did to my 2008, I’ve NEVER popped a fuse.

Dunno if I’d feel right experimenting on someone else’s truck, but when I do the right up for mine I’ll pull together the info on some ideas…

@RainMan_PNW - the great electrical wizard of Tundras - My 2020 Platinum has memory power folding mirrors. Currently, when I park I hit the button to fold my mirrors, turn off the ignition, then I hit the fold button again. Because the power is off the mirrors do not unfold but upon startup it "remembers" that I told it to unfold the mirrors and it does so automatically. How does it "remember" to unfold? On the four way mirror adjustment panel/switch my GS350 has an automatic button that does the auto-folding so I assume there is something in the door's ECU. Any reason that a Lexus ECU could not be substituted and make this work on a Tundra OR does it do other things (I call it things because I know nothing about ECUs) which would conflict?

I’m far from a wizard. Just a hack that’s not afraid to short a few things in the interest of convenience.

On the tundra memory mirror switch, does the fold button remain in a specific position? I.e. does it stay pressed in when folded and stay out when extended? Sort of like the clicker on a ball point pen? If so, then I think the same principal behind the Gen2 mod would work, but would require a separate relay in each door.

As for swapping Lexus ECUs - that’s a gamble. I would have to find and compare complete wiring diagrams of ALL the functions each ECU handles (tundra vs gs350) as well as pinouts and even connector details. The internal wiring of the ECUs isn’t published, so figuring out the full function inside is a combination of logic testing and best guess.

The auto button in the GS is sending a signal to the ECUs to perform the fold on power off as well as unfold on power on - i would also assume there’s a timer in there so the mirrors aren’t unfolding as soon as power starts. The logic is fairly simple but the details on how the ECU actually does it I’m not sure on. I’m not an electrical engineer. :D

on the method i just did, you don’t have an “override” so the auto fold is always there. and the mirrors start to unfold immediately when the ignition starts - so they open a second until the starter engages, then stop until the engine starts and the system returns power to the rest of the truck.
If i sat and thought through the logic a little more, I’m pretty sure I could come up with an override manual/auto selector - probably using a SPDT switch of some kind.

@RainMan_PNW - Thanks Casey. The button remains in position, either stays pressed or extended. It is a push button that when pushed mirrors are folded and when extended mirrors are unfolded. So once it is turned off and pressed to unfold then the truck knows to unfold when started. Because I have both 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen I just checked and they both function the same.

You should re-use the stock bulb socket. The new VLEDS harness should plug right in

Ok. Then I’ve got a hunch that the DPDT relay would work basically that same way it does with the non-memory switch, except you’d need one in each door. Basically, you’re setting up a relay so that when the ACC is on, the wiring uses the “stock” configuration (based connects the factory wiring per the factory setup), but when ACC is off, it sends power directly to the motor to fold the mirror.

I needed to make some brackets to mount my amber spot lights, but didn’t want to buy the brackets available by a certain company. Originally I used pvc mounted to the crossmember, but they just bounce like crazy.
I removed the air deflectors, and started with cardboard, utilizing two of the points and a stud on the crossmember. After making the template, I cut them out of 3/16” aluminum, bent and brazed the bends, and painted flat black. Super sturdy now, they don’t move at all. 029C0570-1E3E-4286-998F-5C87CD5E86FE.jpg

Just got my truck back from @dcsleeper408, thanks for another great install! :hattip:

He installed new 6112s (pre assembled at 1.9"), 5160s in the back, and my new wheel caps. He also put in a strut shim to add 1/2" to the drivers side and the front is dead even side to side. (And diagnosed leaking cam shafts, at least the powertrain warranty is still in effect.)

When I bought the truck it had some big strut spacers up front which I wanted to get rid of. Like Mark predicted, after putting in the 6112s, the truck is a touch nose high now. Next I will hook up my travel trailer to see how much higher I need to raise the back up. Just looking for a level ride when towing.

Thinking of adding an HD Roadmaster Active Suspension and then seeing if I need a small shackle or not.

    Final numbers (fender to center of hub): Front Driver = 24 3/8", Rear Driver = 23 5/8", Front Passenger = 24 3/8, Rear Passenger = 24"
