2020 and 2021 DSR1 Issues PLEASE READ AND POST IF YOU HAVE ISSUES

I’m pretty sure non-JBL systems don’t require the DSR1 which is where the issues in this thread seem to have been experienced. I could be wrong, so maybe someone with a non-JBL upgrade will chime in?

 

I an having the same issues, now the volume does not work. Get's a little sound and then no sound. Very frustrating product.

 

..speaking of volume..i had this observation..

When udating your settings on the dsr1, if you adjust the volume while the update is in progress it will be "stuck" at a low setting. The fix seems to be powering off the vehicle a few minutes, then uts back to normal. I am assuming thwt the dsr1 just needs to shut diwn for it to sort itself out..

 

James assisted me today. Seems my DSR1 is not powering my amp/turning it on. Got power to DSR not from DSR to amp.

 

Update to 2.0. Should take care if it for you.

 

We are going to try that today. I need to take the DSR1 out and go thru my desktop. I sure hope it works.

 

It works!! reflashed or updated the DSR1.
James was a big help and provided great customer care and was very patient with me.

 

Yep, decided to take the plunge today and update. Got the same thing (2,0) so going to assume 2.1 was for either Lexus or Subaru. When I put it back in, see they fixed part of the startup sequence, so AMP is turned on earlier in the radio boot up. I'll test the apple/google maps thing later, but it sounds like it should be working now from some comments in this thread. Also downloaded the latest firmware for the JBL radio to put on tonight. Software in vehicles are getting to be like keeping all your other tech devices up to date now, its exhausting...lol

 

I thought I had it all fixed. Got ready for work and went back out to leave and nothing but silence from the radio.
James helped me again tonight but no luck.
Anyone have a factory amp I could purchase and I reinstall?

 

Have you had a chance to try it out? I bit the bullet and just replaced the HU for now.

 

Yep, all is good. It is a little wonky on the music coming back, rear then front, but my guess is there is a timed delay programmed into to the front speakers. But yes, apple/google maps, waze now work with voice and music returns. Text and phone always worked fine prior. Reason I finally jumped on it is that the subscription services was coming due and even I think it is a little pricey and too separated to have enough value. 3 services at 8 bucks a piece is more than a netflix subscription, which is a no go for me. Too bad because some of the features are fairly decent, but not all of them. I may do a head unit one day, but pretty low on a list at the moment.

Glad the DSR is in a better position for those keeping their JBL headunits, changing speaker and AMP with any of the @Tech12volts packages.

 

Seems pretty drastic instead of trouble shooting why it is not working consistently. You might consider starting a separate thread with what changes you did, some pic's and what you are experiencing. My first DSR had issues when it got cold outside, returned and replaced with a new one and it has been working fine since, even better after the 2.0 firmware update.

 

Does anyone know the most current firmware for the DSR? I can only find 1.9.4 but I feel like there should be more. This thing is kicking my ass on my install.

 

2.0 is the current firmware, 1.9 still had some bugs which were resolved. When you are on the iData site with the DSR plugged in, it will get you to the right spot. Mine has been flawless since installing the firmware.

 

Any update on DSR1 issues? I lost my sound today.

 

I have heard nothing. Googled it and found nothing recent. RF has nothing on their site. I know some guys have had to basically reset and start over with it, basically a reboot.

 

So far since my install done with the DSR1 has been awesome sounding. Been a few months and loving the sound.

 

What have you done to trouble shoot? What firmware version are you running? Firmware version 2 has been flawless for me since last year.

 

I lost my sounds when I dropped my truck off at the shop for wheels and tires, picked up today and I have sound. How do you check the firmware? James programed mine last Oct.

 

James did mine. Would disconnecting the battery to cause that? I don’t know why they would do that just to mount wheels and tires if that was done? Just checking.

 

I would bet James put the most current firmware on it based on date. As far as checking yourself, you can either hook it up to a computer and the iDatalink site, or download perfect tune for either android or IOS which allows you to further tune the system. I would guess it was a minor hiccup truck startup, and when it restarted it was fine.

 

Like others, I think when I powered down it reset.

Thanks!!!! James told me after the install to delete perfect tune app, he said it would do crazy things. I have sound so I'm good. I'll jump back on if I have anymore issues.

 

Check all your connections. Things work loose over time. Check em all, ground, speaker wires, amp wires, harness connections, etc. If 1 or more are loose it may also be a cause. I have my calendar set to check the system every 6 months..I know, overkill

yes i think so im having the same problem i download the app still not working like before i bought a new dsr1 and still the same problem my sound is very low

 

Maybe try and get a hold of James for help.

 

So I was just checking the Maestro website, and it shows the DSR-1 got a new firmware on March 30, 2022?? But its showing Ver 2.0 still. Has anyone had a chance to see if this fixes anything?

I might take the laptop out to the truck and see if I can check this out...
