    I'm
Sure that's how they come from the factory then. I'd like to see what they look like a bit wider though....

Full disclaimer I know nothing about these units specifically but is it possible that is intentional to not blind oncoming cars and give you the most light possible on the lane you are in?

Well the "step down" is 100% intended to not blind on coming cars but my point is the step down from both lights should not be that close together it should have a wider spread

I was showing you through PMs, but these headlights are adjustable! You can widen the beam pattern yourself with a screwdriver with the adjustment on the rear of the housing. :) Widen them however far apart you would like!

I am going to attempt aiming this weekend. I didn’t realize the step down thing was necessary! Any pre recommendations for horizontal swath width? As a reference starting point? I usually set my auto leveling adjuster to 2.5, right in the middle. Thanks!

When I purchased and installed mine about 2 years ago the cab dial to raise and lower the beam based on your load worked the opposite of what it is supposed to. There is another thread on here discussing this issue. Morimoto was going to address and fix this issue and notify customers when replacements were available. I never heard a word from them or HR. I am assuming the problem still exists. You just have to be aware of it if you use this adjustment. More passengers/load use a lower number.

this isn’t a prob. I have the v2 that recently came out. I was asking about the step down and swath adjustment.

This is my 2008 Tundra's Morimoto headlight projection after adjustment. The height of that line in the wall is the height of the center of my headlights. Look for the blue tape markings. My headlights suck. They are pointing too far down. The Right Hand beam is way larger than the left. I'm sad in the pants! I have complained to Headlight Revolution they pretty much said this is normal.

I couldn't get the Toyota Dealer to adjust mine. They said they weren't Toyota so they won't touch them.

I unbolted the window washer bottle and moved it out of the way. Then I used a ratcheting combination wrench. I drove to the adjusting site with a loose washer bottle. It didn't move or fall over.

08 Tundra. Just got the amber XB’s. I was surprised to find the leveler motor plug filled in with an epoxy or plastic when I got them. I was under the impression these lights came with leveling motors. I took the effort to get the leveling switch and harness. I emailed Morimoto and they advise that the lights do not come with a leveling motor. Completely took me by surprise.

    Weird.

They still advertise them as being headlight leveler "compatible", but they for sure used to come supied with the motors. One of the reasons I went with the Morimotos, to retain that function.

Maybe they are having trouble sourcing chips.?

According to Morimoto, they haven’t included them in their headlights for 2 years now (for 2nd gen Tundra).

I too wanted to use that function.

I “think” maybe there is that difference between the 2nd gen tundra lights and 2.5 gen trucks (leveling motor included or not)…so reading reviews here it was just assumed by me and I never made that differentiation. Also, as you said…they used to include it…but quietly stopped. Never caught that they stopped including that feature.

Another “misunderstanding on my part…the light pattern is different for gen 2 vs gen 2.5 trucks. Gen 2 trucks get the LED’s while gen 2.5 get the LED projectors. The projectors have that crisp horizontal line as you see in most or all of the alignment vids…while the lights for the gen 2 are not nearly as defined/crisp. Still like them…still huge improvement on stock halogens. Just a little disappointed I never caught onto these differences/changes.

That's really disappointing to hear. If they have in fact removed the functionality, are they not obliged to update their advertising? In your shoes I would probably be heated enough to request a partial refund for selling me a product that was not as advertised.

Just for reference, I've only had mine (2nd Gen/2012) for like a year and a half, and they have the motors built in and ready to go. All plug-n-play... As advertised.

I will admit that my headlights are kinda different it seems. While all of the other Morimotos I've seen have an orange reflector, mine have a clear (or white) reflector which lights up orange. Maybe I have some early version they found buried in the back.

Also strange, I swear I've seen multiple forum members with the amber DRL versions which still had the integrated leveling motors. These hadn't quite been released when I purchased my white DRL Mori's. If the Amber's aren't even 2 years old, how were they still coming with the levelers.

Maybe someone with the amber DRLs can confirm what my memory seems to think is truth.

To my recollection, the 2nd Gen offering have always had the free-form reflector system and were never available with projectors.

Yeah…was emailing headlight revolution in October. I was asking about if the leaking housings and reversed leveling motors were fixed. They advised that both problems are resolved for the v2 lights.

Seems I’m not getting the full story from someone.

When leveling the head lights are y’all doing it with the high beams off? So level the beams to headlight height and width of the vehicle at 25ish feet with no high beam

    Yes.

Main beams (or dip beams for brits) only. No highs

So I installed new headlights and fogs. Huge upgrade. Worth the money I would say. One interesting hiccup in the install process. The fog lights wouldn’t power on. I called morimoto and they said it was a polarity issue that occurs occasionally. I shaved off the the clip on the plugs backside and reversed the clip which solved the issue.

I have had zero issues with mine and not only changed the look but increased lighting significantly from my foggy old headlights. My leveling motor also works without issue.

Got mine installed last wknd. Only issue was the leveling motor dial reversed now. 6 is now level and 0 is the max lowered. Doesn't bother me enough to deal with as the motors work fine, just the reverse for numbers/ setting on dial.

Me too. The leveling feature works fine on mine. I bought them during the Black Friday sale so I'm guessing they are the latest version.

I just finished this install on a 2010 Sequoia. The vertical beam adjustment is easy to access from above with a long Phillips screwdriver as others mentioned. But my beams converge way too much. Has anyone adjusted their beams horizontally and can explain how to do it?

General comments: I love this upgrade! These are far brighter and whiter than halogens and the DRLs and sequential signals significantly modernize the appearance. I specifically like that these do not require deleting the headlight washers (like the Vlands and Form(?) ones do). In Colorado, they're very helpful at times. Looking forward to installing the XB fogs.

The horizontal adjustment is in the upper corner of the fixture, and it's not as straight of a shot to access as the vertical adjustment. I used a small 8mm box-end wrench to adjust mine. Not difficult at all.

One can use a somewhat large Philips screwdriver vertically (through the top), so you dont need to try an get a wrench on the "head". You'll notice the "teeth" looking down from above. The Phillips interacts with these teeth.

Probably wouldn't work well with the interchangeable tip style screwdrivers, but the old-timey ones work great
