New truck to me 07 Double cab, 5.7 2wd. I've been driving for 50 years (legally) and never experienced a truck of this size that LAUNCHES when you first take off. It has the touchiest throttle. Is this normal? Can it be adjusted? Thanks.

The early model years were that way, that latter ones were dialed back a bit. I know that tuners can adjust things like that, I'm not sure if plug-and-play devices like Bully Dog or Pedal Commander can though.

Apparently you can install Toyota part number 781100C012 to mellow out the pedal a bit.

Experienced the same thing with my 2007. I did initially buy a Pedal Commander to desensitize the pedal.

Have since purchased the newer pedal assembly and quit using the pedal commander.
Genuine Toyota Pedal Assembly Accelerate 04000-0440C
$40ish and about 3 minutes to change out.
    Good Luck!

A current thread on the subject. Seems like lots of people recommend a $200 throttle controller, but many say a $40 OEM replacement pedal might do the trick. I'm about to find out cause It drives me crazy and I'm convinced it can't be helping fuel economy...

That's one of the 'feature' I will never change on my 07... I love the way this truck jumps off the line.

I liked my 07's pedal sensitivity. You get used to it very "quickly". At least I did. My 14 couldn't jump a turtle until I threw on my HikeIt. I've had it set on Auto IQ now for 2 weeks. I'm obviously not privy to the code algorithms for Auto IQ mode but my throttle response is perfect to MY liking.....finally.

The pedal does help the "trick" with intial throttle sensitivity but doesn't change the throttle response curve. It's still there. Pedal Commander is $300 with bluetooth. Big deal. $200 or less without bluetooth is worth it having control of your throttle response. I owned an 07 and drove it 5+ years. The 14+ is a dog compared to my 07. I really dislike when some folks say to just use your foot. It's not the same... NOT. Go with science. It's real.

FYI.......I forgot now why I took my 07 to the dealership. May have been for the Smart Stop/Safe stop whatever bs flash but I do remember the service writer telling me...AFTER THE FACT......that they did the pedal shim to help with the pedal sensitivity!!! I actually didn't get pissed but as soon as I got home I took that shim out. If they would have swapped out my pedal.......I would have been really pissed and made them take that window dressing "fix" off immediately. While I watched..............

I changed my pedal to the newer one and it was much better. A fellow member had an extra brand new one for $25 sent. It took longer to get the tools together than it did to swap it out.

I get what you are saying but I suspect I don't need the whole throttle response curve changed, just the initial throttle sensitivity.. I'm going to throw $30 at it before I throw $200 at it. Big deal or not. Especially when my gut says that it will be more than sufficient. And I suspect the same is true for most folk who complain about involuntary launches, etc. Especially after reading reviews of the updated pedal on sites like Amazon. I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

I agree with you 100%. Go with what you think is best for you. As to what @Rex Kramer posted, I with him. It's kick ass. I adjusted to the pedal sensitivity. There were the occasional moments when I wish it was less sensitive. Going from a sensitive pedal like my 07 to my 14 was just simply not cutting it. I honestly hated my 14's pedal and tamed down throttle mapping. I adapted and used S mode most of the time and occasionally T/H mode to make up for what was missing from my 07. The involuntary launch can be fixed but you still have the crazy rpm jump at times when simply passing someone or hitting the throttle a bit when heading up a steep grade on pre 14's. It was very annoying. All due to the throttle mapping. That problem for me is gone now. My HikeIt in Auto IQ mode has truly adapted to my foot. Throttle response is now near perfect for me and will only get better the further Auto IQ mode gets from the initial baseline data. I tend to shy away from reviews on anything Tundra related on Amazon. Post your results here. Lots of folks here will be patiently waiting for your review! Tundras.com is the best place for that.......
