295/70/18 tires

Alright guys another question about tire size. I am back and forth with keeping my stock rims and Hydro-Dipping them. On my factory rims +60, I'm looking at p295/70/18 tire. Of course this will be with a 2.5 front leveling kit. That size compared to my factory 275/65/18 is a big jump diameter wise, and speed difference is significant. I do not want to install speed calibrator. Will this setup work. I know there could be some modifications or removal. All opinions and suggestions are very much welcome.

 

There are guys with Pro (same offset 2 inch lift in the front) who installed 295/70/18 without an issue, so my guess is that they will fit without a major issue. You may have to push in the front plastic liner a bit (which I still had to do to mine).

I think you will need to install a speedometer calibrator with 295/70/18. It's 2 & 1/2 inches taller than stock. If you don't want to install a calibrator, have you considered 275/70/18? I think it will look pretty good with 2.5 inch level.

 

Thanks Chphilo, yeah just want it to fill wheel well out. Wish they had more availability for a 285/70/18 tire, but slim pickens in that size. That 275/70/18 might be the way to go, an inch taller, but same width.

 

Can anyone tell me what the actual width of 295/70/18 St Maxx is. I'm getting 2 sizes. 11.66 & 12".

 

Cooper specs say 12" and so does my ruler. I just added these on Friday, but my new wheel is +18. I also have a wide open front bumper and did the body mount chop too. The other Pro guys are using Toyos on stock wheels and the Toyos specs say 11.8". I believe all they did was remove smaller front mudflap? Hopefully they will chime in on that...

I'd go for it, with that lift you should be in same boat as other PRO's. Your going to like them!

 

You'll need to "massage" the plastic fender liner with a heat gun but shouldn't have to cut anything. Wheel spacers recommended, I run 1.25" .

 

I did the Bilstein 6112's at top setting with 1" in the rear. Did 1.25" wheel spacers on stock +60mm offset 18 wheels with Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/70r18s and have Body Mount rub at full lock in reverse, and while hitting bumps at a sharp uphill turn. Ordered new Fuel Vectors with +20 offset to replace spacers and get rid of Body Mount Rub. Has anyone else had these issues? Everything I've read is with this lift and those tires, I shouldn't be getting Body Mount Rub and only have minimal trimming.
