Thank You, I got lucky . . . it was a 'Garage Queen' my neighbor sold me. He swore he'd never sell it, but he bought a 25 foot boat that requires a 3/4 or 1 ton truck to pull it, so he sold it to me with 58K miles on it.

Yeah, I paid $15K. Funny story . . . first time I saw the truck it was parked in front of a local liquor store, I walked in and barked, "Who's Tundra is that parked outside"?!?!?! . . . The owner looked at me like, "Who's this weirdo"? . . . Turned out he lived on the next street . . . I said, "If you ever wanna sell..." , "NOPE I"LL NEVER SELL IT" he quickly said . . . LOL, a couple years later my phone rang and I walked over to his house with the cash. Perfect timing.

I like them. I’ve been on P tires with this truck. These LTs are definitely stiffer, and I can hear them. They will break a bit on the road, but fully controlled. I find them to be comfortable confidence tires, but not touring. At this point I would buy them again. But, I’ve got some water and terrain to test yet.

Good info! I’ve had Toyo AT and General AT. Toyos were great but want to try something new primarily for highway.
The Pirelli Scorpion and Falken Wildpeak also look nice.
The Toyos were the best thing on snow/ice that I’ve ever had.

Finally got my 05 DC SR5. So far 5% tint, SoftTopper on the rear and Dobinsons 2" level & add a leaf in the back riding on KO2's
295/70/17. Needed 1.25" spacers that slightly rubbed up front until the fenders were trimmed. Haven't fully tested it off-road so more trimming might be necessary. My Tundra.jpg

Here's my 04 tundra, it has 2017 stock tacoma wheels with some K02's. I definitely like the look with it but it 100% needs spacers to be able to run them. I have 2in spacers for my truck and it makes the wheels stick out just a tiny bit lol. The amount of thread that the spacers occupy worries me just a little but its been running well with them for the past 3 or so years.

You wouldn’t happen to know the part number in those would you? Or maybe the backspace and offset? These are the wheels I’m looking at getting but it seems I’ve seen different versions of them. I want to make sure I get the correct ones and not have to use a spacer to push the wheel/tire out to be even with the flares

I just ordered these ones: PTR2035110GR.

According to the Toyota website they have 4mm offset which works out to a little less than 4.25" of backspace. That's 11mm less than the 15mm offset of my stock 16" wheels, but that's less than a half inch difference so I don't think I should have any problems.

I found a pretty good deal on them, more info in this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/17-trd-wheels-on-stock-sr5-dc.89095/#post-2241092

I bought the campershell with the racks drilled into the shell and the front racks were for my surfboards back in Hawaii. but I shipped my truck with me to Texas so its basically useless now but I kept the back ones on because I didn't wanna deal with the holes and the front ones so the roof wouldn't be so barren compared to the shell lol.

Can you tell me any details about your setup? Such as tire size, any lift/level, what spacer, etc.? I was just gifted a set of these rims for my `04 DC, and I need tires, so the timing is right for me. I was thinking about maybe 1.5" spacer--also, maybe Bilstein 5100 on setting 3 up front to level it out. I also need some lug nuts and, based on my reading this ENTIRE thread, sounds like I should consider some longer lugs. Would like some UCAs as well, but may have to wait on those. Currently have the factory split 5 spokes and 265/70/17s--both of which are well worn. Any other readers please feel free to add your comments. Thanks.

    Some incredible looking trucks everyone!

I love a good deal. I recently scored an excellent set of 4Runner 17" rims for $50 for the set, and a set of really inexpensive take-off Bridgestone Dueller HT tires so went this direction. I got this set of Jeep takeoff 245/75/17" that were dated mid-2020 and still had the nubs so essentially brand new, on Jeep rims. $200. My tire guy traded the Jeep rims, for the labor to mount. So I'm into this set of tires and rims, all essentially near new, for $250. It rides great at highway speeds. Tickled happy!

I have a very very similar set of Prerunner 16" rims I purchased recently for only $40 for the set of 4, in 95% condition. I was planning to use them, but I decided to mount the 17s instead since these summer 17" tires and rims were available so cheaply.

I have always really liked this 6 spoke look.
    Resized_20210530_171604.jpg

As mentioned, here's my very similar original 2005 pickup Prerunner truck rims.

For my setup I had everything stock 2WD. The only thing that wasn’t stock was 2in spacers from toytec inside the front coilovers. And 2 in spacers for all the wheels. I believe I went from 265/75/16 to 285/70/17 kO2’s on the ‘17 Tacoma rims.

For the coil over spacers, I got them from toytec, I bought them in 2.5in lift size but it was a weird spacer and I only used 2in or just the bottom piece of the spacer they sent me. That was the first time I worked on a truck before and it was super easy to install. I don’t remember where I got the wheel spacers from but I opted for 2 in BORA wheel spacers so I could have the wheels stick out a little. When putting on your wheels just make sure to research the offset and if it needs spacers or not. When I put on the spacers it was a really tight fit and the lug nuts are holding on just a few threads so be aware of that. However, it still had enough thread to get a tight fit and lasted about 3years+ now.

I’d also recommend not to buy coilover spacers because they’ve worn out my suspension ALOT but I’ve had them for 40-50k miles now. However, I’ve finally replaced them for a “real” coilover lift.

I’ll throw in some pictures from when I worked on them years ago.

In all, the spacers gave me 2in of lift and the wheels gave me an additional 1.5-2 in of lift

I picked up a set of these wheels and bought some BFG AT's online from Costco.
I'd like to get some gunmetal lug nuts for them, I just don't know where to get them from. A google search brings up a myriad of shady sites.
Also- I'm concerned whether Costco will install the tires on these wheels since they're not on my truck yet so I'd be bringing the rims in to get tires put on them.

I don't know if there are gunmetal lug nuts, mine are black.

Costco will install the wheels just make sure you have the wheels and lug nuts. I bought the wheels and lug nuts online from a Toyota dealership in Washington state.

According to my Costco store, they want to use their TPMS because they can program them to the truck, otherwise if you use yours they would not be responsible if they do not program. I have not had any issue with their TPMS...
