2004 DC headlights

I saw these headlights but says it won’t fit DC why is that? Or does anyone know black housing headlights for an 04 dc

 

@KarmaKannon did you do black housings for your DC?

 

I can’t find any black housing ones for a dc

 

They do exist, I’m sure of it, the side marker is the big difference, I can’t remember what is different about the main headlight.

 

You think I’ll be able to make a new bracket for them? Or try to find a way to make em work

DC lights are physically bigger than AC lights, so they are not interchangeable.

The only place I have sourced 2004+DC black lights are on eBay.

Yep. They look just like the ones above. I haven't put them on though. I painted the reflector black, but the surround was black already, unless I'm mistaken. I've had a few sets over the last two years.

 

How hard was it to do it yourself?

 

The paint or the projectors?

Paint is easy-ish if you like painting and using oven cleaner to remove the chrome stuff.

Projectors are easy if you get the threaded style that keys into the old bulb area on the headlight housing.

Etching the projector wasn't bad, but it requires a good stencil and a sand blaster with fine media.

Taking the lense off the headlight housing is the part that's the hardest. Takes time and heat in the oven. Resealing them isn't too bad.

It's all worth it if you like fiddling and you want better light that LEDs or halogens will give you in the factory housing.

 

Now that I’m looking, it seems they are all dried up. I’ve noticed the last few months prices on light assemblies have gone up and they are scarce. Chy-na must be having some importation issues I presume.
