What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I have a feeling you all aren’t going to like this but I do and that’s all that matters.

edit; I had to make my own bracket to fit the grill and modify the screws for the bracket to make this work. Just in case someone tries in future... you gotta shorten the screws that come with this badge or else they’ll tear your driver side horn off when you open the hood.

My exhaust guy kept warning me about the gap cause I wanted it closer to body to avoid issues on the trails.

Got the side window in the shell! Not to bad of a job, a corner gave us a little fight but I just had to stretch some metal, no biggie. I’ll need to trim or Massage the window molding, not letting it slide completely closed

 

The Other Guy on youtube talks about the problem with the SPC arms and this lift and then found the adapter that fixes it.

I do plan to talk to Tuff Country and emailed them Thursday and called Friday but their tech guys were out. Evidently they'll call me back. In the mean time, because of @KNABORES suggestion, I took the coil/strut apart after seeing that the isolator had squished some and gotten caddywompus:




The bushings holding the top mount I think were also on the wrong sides of where they should've been.

After fixing that the spindle still got into the coil, at full droop on the jackstand, but it would pop back out.

I also listened to @RUSTYNUTS and torqued the LCA bolts with them in the "close enough while jacked up" position and also Josh at 1stgenoffroad.com suggested attaching the sway bar links prior to dropping the wheel.


The combination of those three things got me to this spot when on the ground:





The isolator is still wonky but at least its wonkiness is working for me for now. I'll see if it lasts.

I drove it around the block and over some speed bumps then took it to get aligned.

Drives good. Hit some speed bumps at 20 on the way home and didn't hear anything get bound up.

Yup, thats the guy I was referring to but couldn't recall his name. Nice to see there is an adapter, last video I had seen he was SOL.

Your swaybar should limit the droop by close to 2" and that might keep the contact from happening, assuming it was not connected while you experienced the problem.

 

Not sure, I just dont want it to hit my bed or anything. Not in a big hurry but Might cut it like @Darkness to clean up the sides. Still haven't decided though.

 

Installed my Mishimoto radiator, 170degree thermostat, and a new MAF sensor. I’ve only taken 1 drive so far, and so far, a 5 degree improvement. We’ll see if the temps stay down while towing.

Anyone think i borked it myself by using dot4 instead of dot3? Almost everything ive read says theyre interchangable, but dot4 might be a touch thinner?

 

Aight guys I'm ordering the fuel pump stuff. Denso did have the lowest price at $109 (vs $350 at Stevenson Toyota) and it even comes with the little hose and clips, so thank you @Professional Hand Model. Getting the strainer, cushion, and tank gasket shipped from McGeorge for like $35.

Should I get the entire fuel pump hanger (sender gauge and suction plate) assembly? You know, the rest of the stuff attached to the pump? In my opinion I bet I don't need to, but while it's out and accessible, could be a thought.

 

Your call. I’m taking the risk of not doing the sender based on others not doing them and not having a problem. Its not a normal problem that pops up here that I’ve seen. Just take care of the removal of the assy that you do not Mangle the unit. The sender adds another $85? Iirc.

Yes as soon as time and weather allows. Had about 4 windows of opportunity to do this job since mkd March that got closed due to things beyond my control. Maybe another chance this mid week? Been driving on empty and refilling in 3 gallons increments for a month and a half now to keep the tank light as possible.

Yes, DOT 3 brake fluid is compatible with DOT 4 brake fluid. However, DOT 4 offers a higher boiling point.

Yeah. Like stated in that other post, the electrical clip removal was the time consumer. The hoses/etc are easy to remove. I watched a youtubess vid with a guy that dropped his tank at his house. His little daughter was in the back round the entire time. She said, ‘Daddy can I light this match?’

You have inspired me to take the seats out and wash the carpet and do a full detail inside. Just lacking the energy and commitment.
