Wow, that is quite the find. Sorry you have that but good thing you found it now. That is quite the engineering there.

www.car-part.com is a really good online junkyard. They do all the cross referencing parts from other years and they all ship the part to you. That’s where I would start.

Cast aluminum always looks cracked to me. Weird spiderweb stuff if does gets me every time.

Ever look in an aluminum cylinder head? The broken looking aluminum can scare you for a second. Lol

    About 6 years.

Yeah everything works fine. It was just the metal click sound that made me open things up.

I know this truck was a theft recovery at one point. Maybe the ignition was ruined and this was their easy fix...

Thanks. Think I’m going take my time and not rush this. I’m not really sure what the entire column looks like to go pick one up from a junkyard around here. Found this on EBay, is this what I need?...

Question, if I find the whole column that has its key, why would I need to swap out the key cylinder?

I have next to no knowledge about this kinda stuff.
    Thanks

Maybe so you maintain the original key (one key only) for doors/gas etc.

You’ll have two keys if you keep the cylinder on the new. Just a guess.

So your key still matches the locks

That site is awesome! Think I found the right part with the key for $150.

Called the junkyard and they said the unit they have doesn’t have tilt. If me has the tilt, would I be able to transfer it onto the “new” one? Or best to get it all in 1 assembly?

    thanks
