The nut on the bed is tacked/spot welded on so as long as they don't get REALLY aggressive with it and somehow break the tack and spin the nut it should work.

Dealer came through and fixed the bolt. Had to cut off the old and weld on a new nut.

Wonder if these would help with this weird popping noise I have in the rear when making turns. Sounds like a warping noise like the bed is flexing somewhere.

Not that I know of for this brand. There would be others if you Google it, but I don't think I'd trust them.

These are $180usd, plus shipping I imagine, let's say $20 to a US address (they're steel and heavy), so about $200+ one tax 7% guessing, total is $214usd or $280 CAD and potential for more taxes if you bring them over the border on a day trip

So $300 cad is a small bit more than the conversion, but taxes and duty are all included and you don't have to leave your house or travel to the USA during a pandemic (if you can even cross he border) to get them.

If I was.bjuing, it's worth the extra $20 to have them at my door in Canada.

All the Tundras around here come with a sprayed bed liner. So I assume those bolts are not gonna back out or loosen.

I ordered mine via Krave in Calgary. Took a bit of time but was cheaper than purchasing direct and I was able to support a local shop. Another option is Overland Outfitters - good small shop in BC that brings in product from a bunch of vendors out the states including Cali Raised and offers them at fair prices. Either way, you're making import and customs their problem (which is a good thing).

Could have been. The sound has been more frequent over time. Might put my rear sway bar back on and see if this helps limit the body roll.

Can somebody measure there bed from the mounting bolt too the side? I’ve got a weird clunking noise that showed up after the addition of the camper top. I suspect bed flex but nobody makes a set for the 1st gens. Was curious if I could make a set work off the shelf or if I’ll have to build a set

Would you recommend installing the stiffeners before getting the bed line-x?

Like @Cummins3500 I too want to know if these will work on a first Gen. I don’t off-road other than logging roads, but I do wonder if my bed flexes. Can’t hurt to have some extra rigidity in the build of the truck. More tie downs are always welcome.

@Bailey Can you let me know if you had any issues running these stiffeners with your Four Wheel Camper Raven?

I'm about to the pull the trigger on ordering from 4WC and wanted your opinion if the stiffeners will interfer with the bottom of the camper.

I was in line for doing a roof-top tent system over the bed and saw the concern about constant pressure causing the side rails to spread, so I decided to prepare with the Total Chaos bed stiffeners. They’re a serious hunk of steel and happily straightforward to install. I have a spray-in liner so I had to cut around the big bolt and peel off the bed liner in order to get the torx in there. It was easy to do but you’ll want to fill that spot with a properly-sized washer so the horizontal portion of the bed stiffener under the big bolt is supported and level. I ended up postponing the roof-top tent purchase but in the meantime I have piece of mind and some very useful and numerous lash points in the rear of the bed. The various lash points are helpful for securing stuff especially if you have to drive with the tailgate down. Pricey but two thumbs up for Total Chaos.

I'm about to get the bed liner, can you mount the bed stiffeners on top of the liner?

Yes, my bed had a thick spray liner before I installed the Total Chaos bed stiffeners. Actually, I think it is best practice to line the bed before you put any mods on, but others may have a different view. I didn't have a choice. It was no problem, just had to cut carefully around the big torx bolt and peel off the bed liner. The other tip is to get a stainless steel washer the same diameter as the big torx bolt head, and put that down first before the bed stiffener to give yourself a level surface. Hope that makes sense.

    easy quick question:
Are the vertical side members bolting into a single layer of thin sheet metal, or is there something more substantial in the those bolt locations?
Also, any issues loading 4x8 sheet material (plywood, Sheetrock) with these?
    Thanks

I don’t recall exactly the wall thickness of the bed where the vertical bolts go into (without removing the taillight assemblies) other than I am certain I was satisfied with the operation. The whole thing seemed completely stout to my mind, and remains so to this day.

The distance between the bottom-most lash hole points is 55 1/4” (it’s way outside of the width of the wheel-wells) so it does not interfere with 4x8 panels laying down in the bed. Hope that helps.

    Hey mates!

Will these work with a Deck’d drawer system installed without modifications? I’m sorry if this has been answered somewhere in this post. Thanks!
