Hello. I have a 2016 SR5 Tundra double cab with Leer canopy. Ikamper on the canopy.
running a decked system with mountain hatch tailgate. I have Rago bed stiffeners, but after two attempts for install, once at a local shop and once at Toyota. They can not install due to the mountain hatch.
anyone have suggestions or do I need them anyways????

No experience with the Rago stiffeners, but I can say that the CaliRaised bed stiffeners do work with the drawers and a Mountain Hatch tailgate panel. With that being said, the cut outs on the vertical surface of the stiffeners that could theoretically be used as tie down points can't because of the thickness of the tailgate panel (and the decked system height is pretty tall in comparison to their location); but other than that everything fits fine.

I have a Mountain Hatch, Decked system, and Total Chaos bed stiffeners. The Mountain Hatch was no issue, but I did have to trim quite a bit off the Decked system. An oscillating cutting tool worked great, but you could do the same thing with a dremel.

    Lots of shenanigans.
I am about to get my decked system and just wondering if the bed stiffeners would still be necessary, would the decked system act like a bed stiffener?

Maybe? The Decked system isn’t really a glove tight fit in the bed so I don’t think the body of it would provide any support. It does use finger tightened hooks on the bed tie downs though so that might help a bit. I figured bed stiffeners were cheap insurance for the cap and RTT I’m adding.

If you’re doing both, I would suggest doing the stiffeners first. I didn’t because they were delivered a couple of months apart and I thought I’d have enough room. Unhooking and lifting the deck was close, but not enough room. I had to take the Decked system out, do the stiffeners, and put the deck back in. Not terrible, but it would have been easier to do them in order :)

    ^^^^^^This^^^^^^

As far as it acting as a bed stiffener, I don't really think so; I can tell the bedsides have less wiggle after doing the stiffeners, most likely because while the hand tightened hooks holding the decked system in place could potentially help with a bit of outward flex, if the other side has a reciprocal flex it wouldn't do anything at all. Also, the bed stiffeners bolt in in multiple locations, including the tie downs the decked system "tightens" to

So if I get the total chaos stiffeners and install it before I get the decked system that it should fit in without any issues or will I still need to do some choppy choppy?

Does anyone know of any other bed stiffeners that fit mountain hatch and decked without some choppy choppy on the brand new decked?

I ask this cause I too would like to add a RTT in the future so if this is some cheap insurance then i would rather do it now than later.

I'm assuming based on the post above that a good bit had to be cut off of the decked system in order to fit...

CaliRaised fit with no problems at all, would have been a 20-30 minute install if I didn't already have the decked setup installed, so instead it was about an hour. Don't forget to have a bit of touch up paint (doesn't matter what color really) to touch up the fresh metal where you drill!

You will need to cut into the decked system with the Total Chaos bed stiffeners no matter the order in which they’re installed. However, there’s no clearance issues at all with the Mountain Hatch.

Unless you go with the internal SDHQ supports @Dsptundra posted (I have no experience with those to be clear), I think you’re going to run into a problem one way or the other.

The Decked system and Mountain Hatch just don’t leave enough room. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t look like any of the other options would fit without trimming something.

Yeah this is what Rago said:

Unfortunately we do not have confirmed fitment for all three. We do have a 30 day return policy so if the bed channel stiffeners do not work you can return them. We do have a restocking fee on items that are return.

Correct, the stiffeners are specifically built to work with the decked drawers, and clears the mountain hatch panel with plenty of room...20210408_102336.jpg 20210408_102323.jpg

Ok, this is really good info! Might wanna consider sending this to Cali because they couldn't confirm this or not so it would be good info for them! Thanks!

You seem to have a lot more room between your tailgate and decked system than I do :notsure:

Yea OP, I ran into the same problems with the Rago stiffeners and mountain hatch. Actually just ordered the Total Chaos set from Amazon for $58 that will work from the research i've done. I don't have a Decked system so I don't have to worry about that.

Amazon! Look under the "used" option. They're usually just returns that they sell as used.

If you’re using the TC as a tie-down point, does the MH clear strap hooks through the TC rings?

I imagine the MH doesn’t clear the TC by much; just curious if there’s enough room to use ratchet straps on the TC without rubbing on the MH when the tailgate is closed.

Yeah there’s room to use the hooks. The Mountain Hatch is close to the Decked system and TC stiffeners, but the hooks are set forward.

Yeah that’s why I was surprised @Mallcrl had so much room. Mine is butted up against the front of the bed too.

For others to reference…just installed the Total Chaos bed stiffeners. The install was pretty easy except for a stripped bolt on one of my tow hooks. Ended up using an angle grinder to make a slot to use flat head screwdriver.

More importantly, if you have an OEM bed mat, you’ll have to trim it some.
