I am considering upgrading my wheels currently I have 18in steels. I am currently looking at trd pro wheels and tss black wheels I do not plan on lifting the truck. Does anyone have any opinions of pros and cons of either wheel ? I might consider other options but I love the black wheels.

Either will sharpen things up nicely. I have the TRD OR wheels that I put on my ‘08, looks damn spanky if you ask me.

Had the same though and changed the same wheels from my 2021 I had issues with the lugs being different and the sensors not working correctly when going from the steel to the 18" TRD OEM wheels as pictured by "landphil".

I went from stock 20 inch to this 18" TRD/BBS wheel. Same weight as the Pro, 27 lb, but less $$. Love 'em!PXL_20201115_141915946.jpg

I was aware I would not be able to reuse tpms or lugs which sucks but I really don't care for the look of the steels so I'll have to bite the bullet.

I mean the only cons would be the cost of a new setup i guess? Maybe the risk of buyers remorse?

I replaced the heavy steel wheels with lighter SR5 alloys for winter, and even lighter forged BBS pro wheels in the summer.

Winter SR5 alloys that have been painted white... my BBS wheels are black.

I shit canned the PMS monitors in favor of a quality tire pressure gauge.

Well I had heard the 20 inch tss made for a rougher ride vs the 18 inch. I dont know if it's worth considering since I have not drive on tss wheels. I love the look but don't want to hate the ride either.

Anytime you go bigger wheels, you would be risking ride quality as there would potentially be less tire "padding". Of course, you could compensate for bigger wheels by getting even bigger tires, but then your opening other doors to problems like fitment, lower mpg, etc. I am a fan of smaller wheels for this reason. I rather sacrifice looks for a better ride/performance.

Just keep on the lookout for factory takeoffs of the wheels you want complete with TPMS and newish tires. You'll need the lug nuts also to switch from steel to an alloy wheel. Alloy torque spec is lower 97 ft lbs. You can simply swap them over and reprogram the TPMS to have a factory looking and performing wheel set.

My last tundra had the TSS 20” package. With the stock 285/55r20 BFG Ko2 tires I never felt like they were rough. When I jumped up to a bigger Toyo RT tire I could definitely tell a difference but it was not bad at all. My new truck has the TRD Sport 20” wheels with Bridgestone duellers. They ride amazing in my opinion.

If I was going to pick between your two choices the deciding factor would be my suspension. If I was keeping it stock I would go with 20” tss wheels. To me they look great on stock trucks and you will have better handling characteristics. If I planned to lift and run bigger tires I would go with 18” wheels.

Love your truck. Cement is one of my favorite colors!

Hey thank you I'm very happy with it I think the black on cement looks great. I do plan to keep the stock suspension I basically love the way the tss trucks look but was more concerned about staying with in my price range and getting a 4x4.

Idk idk if y’all have the TSS trucks in AR but here in TX they are everywhere. There’s 4 or 5 cements in my city and I love them with the tss wheels. Your truck would look amazing!

I bought my white truck last month and my first choice was a cement TSS but there wasn’t any available at the time

We do have them in Arkansas but they are extremely over priced right now. A 2wd tss in Arkansas was 7k higher than a 4x4 non tss in Kansas I bought mine in Kansas because the local guys wouldn't budge even one dollar.

I’ve never seen a Cement with bbs wheels but they are a hot ticket item. I regularly see TSS wheels and tires like new for $1500 on Craigslist Dallas!

Really? They are 95% 4x4 around here. My last truck was a TSS 4x4!

Probably, but have not priced the TSS. Noticeable improvement in ride quality in going from the stock 20" wheels to the 18" BBS. I don't off-road and my tires are quiet all seasons.

Good to know. I think I'm going to have to drive on and see how bad it is I don't want buyers regret after spending that kind of money on wheels and tires.

Just had Toyota redo the sensors from the steel wheels to make them work with OEM alloys. Cost me $234 to have one aftermarket sensor replaced which the tire installed paid for as they broke my original OEM sensor. Learned the aftermarket ones don't work and got lucky as to getting paid back for my cost. Dashboard was going crazy for a bit!

I've got a set of TRD offroad rims coming off in the next month. I did the vinyl wrap which probably wont survive the TPMS harvest when I change over. It's an easy and cheap mod, or it could be removed for the original TRD look. I'll have them up for sale before too long. I'm in SW Missouri at the Arkansas border. 20210406_135748.jpg 20210406_135755.jpg
