did it just take of surface hard water or did it work for etched in spots?

Currently putting black handles on the cement. Did all 3 doors but the drivers side screw will not line up. Anybody have this problem and what did you do? Second pic it shows black sharpie with the screw hitting just to the side of the hole. Been at this 1 damn handle for the past 3 hours

Not sure I have any etched in spots. It’s fairly new. But this is the best it’s looked after 3-4 washes using meguires.

1 - are you sure the lock shaft is fully engaged in the lock mechanism?
2 - i remember being able to angle the screw side-to-side inside the little plastic keeper it is in. Seems that there’d be enough play to make up for minor misalignment
3 - is the plastic housing correctly attached to the lock body?

    just stabbing at ideas

I had issue with this and it was the angle of the screw. Run the screw backwards and angle it back and forth horizontally until you feel the threads skipping in the female side.

    1. I hope so. The black key fob thingy has been nice and flush with no wiggle room.

    2. I’ve tried so many times trying to wiggle that screw back and forth. Getting a pry tool for some leverage and going again.

    3. definitely.

Thanks for the ideas @RainMan_PNW So much for a quick 15 minute job. All the other doors took literally 30 seconds to take out and replace. Now it’s getting dark out. Boo

I was using meguires previously and no matter how much buffing, I couldn’t get the hard water spots off, especially on the windows. I heard someone on here say to use chemical guys. I didn’t use something specific for hard water, but these in combination took the hard water stains off.

Also make sure the plastic trim in the door is clicked into place correctly. I had trouble with one door and this was the issue.

What Meguiars product(s) were you using? You mentioned buffing....machine buffing or by hand? Neither of the two products you pictured have anything in them that will remove water spots....my guess is that the multiple layers of protection you're putting down are simply hiding them

Got my flag vinyls installed this week, another coating of Griots, drivers side grab handle installed (just missed having it too much), and some Toyota scuff guards installed.
