Smart idea, BUT how would the bottom plate of that wall be secured since it would just be foam below it?
I was going to do that anyways as long as it wouldn’t make the transitions from garage and dining room too different

There's a long story there involving raccoons. It's an 80 steel cable with ratchet straps providing tension between a utility pole and a 30" maple.

I bet @1UPPER would have some ideas.

I bet you are over thinking the coldness issue, not really that much difference than having a tile floor on a slab....

Get a few 6x6s for support. Plant them into the ground with some concrete just like you'd hold up a wall.
Set em, place in the insulation foam, throw on your wood floor base.... Boom.

The cold that would transfer from the outside concrete to the inside would be a lot I would think but you could be right....I’d just rather OVER than UNDER think.

I didn’t improve the house, but the kids’ swim team asked for a box for their countdown timer. I don’t see the point in a box on the ground, so I made a frame...

Is that 3 hours in? I don’t have a pool, gravity feed with a garden hose?

Yeah, that's after draining for 3 hours. There is a submersible pump lowered into the deepest part of the pool which pumps the water out through the hose which runs into our main line cleanout for drainage.

I have a few ideas. I would consider doing a insulated floor system over the existing foundation. This is something you would do inside the inclosed air conditioned space. Watch these videos to give you a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Thank you. You should have a monthly advice fee via PayPal haha

my hesitation with doing that is then the flooring would be higher than the dining room but maybe a transition piece in the doorway wouldn’t be so bad.

Agreed, the step up wouldn’t be ideal. A lot of homes will have a monolithic foundation that transitions from an air conditioned space to an outside area. Other parts of your home will still have foundation that is exposed to the cold weather next to an air conditioned space.

There are other factors to consider as well. Is the attic or roof over this space, insulated already? Do you plan to have this space controlled by your existing HVAC system? Have you talked to different HVAC companies to see what they recommend to make this space air conditioned? Do you have the enough slope on the outside patio concrete for water to stay out of the room?

Install some leaf guards. I did last in areas where I have trees. Not hard to do. I used my cordless impact. A magnetic socket would help but I just put some duct tape in the socket. Make sure the guards slope away from the house.

Hmm, for some reason I didn’t think about the hvac stuff but luckily one of the main trunks dead ends under the dining room so that’s accessible. The ceiling isn’t insulated yet but is able to be. The slope would be an issue and I doubt it’s got the right pitch but I will have to check in that. Thank you for all these thoughts! I really appreciate it

an option for ac would be to throw in one of those ductless ac units. especially if you can't tie into your existing unit for power/flow reasons. i agree with checking with your ac guys and get some input from them.

Check the build link in my signature.
What is the height difference? Would Dricore work as a subfloor (only 7/8” thick). That’s what I’m (slowly) putting in my basement over the slab.
