So long story short I'm wanting to swap out the Chrome exhaust tip with a blacked out version.

Now before I delve into something I haven't done before on my Tundra, is removing the exhaust tip just a straight forward uninstall? Loosen the bolt from the clamp, remove clamp and tug off the tip?

Making this post to make sure I'm not missing anything. I've seen posts like these 2 below where they're having issues with removing the stock tip. Several posters recommending cutting off portion of the pipe.

Unsure if this is unique to specific year/version of the tundra, but again mine is the 2014 SR5.

Removing can be a pain in the ass for what it is.

Admittedly, I took mine off, but never again.

You can easily scuff and paint on the truck.

    Welcome from NY.

    Remove nut/bolt, remove 2 spacers.
Get a large flat blade screwdriver and wedge it in where the spacers were and pry/bend the tip ends upward all around where the spacers were. Wiggle the tip as you are pulling it off, insert screwdriver in bend more. The factory exhaust pipe is alittle bit wider that's why you are bending/prying......it will come off, may take 20 minutes but it will come off just pull hard and don't give up.

Recently installed a red cigarette lighter that says “Eject” in my power outlet that I’m most proud of. Blacked out decals, front bumper, working on rear bumper, saving for color matched grill and hood bulge to rid myself of chrome. Leveling kit 2”/ 4” with Lt285/65R20 BFG tires Linex bedliner and sidestep bars Some cushy things on the interior
It’s way easy, I read some of the other posts also. I loosened the clamp removed the spacers, beat the hell out of the tip with a hammer and block of wood till the smaller flare was flush with the large flare of the pipe. I smacked it a few times but had difficulty cause my wood block kept chipping. That’s when I started reading the other threads and scratching my head than went on a journey into my shed...to my delight I have a drawer of things/ tools deemed waiting on the day it might work, most of these tools were given to me, inherited, garage sale find, or from harbor freight . Anyhow I had a brand new chain clamp I new I’d need someday and low and behold tis was the day! I gripped the old exhaust tip with the chain clamp and removed it in minutes, no cutting anything and minimal elbow grease! A saweeet thing indeed! Love it when that happens! Harbor freight is not my choice to get things, but some things for sure!

When you remove it be sure to give it a good cleaning and polishing and then post it up for sale.

    lots of members purchase them.

Glad you were able to do it. There used to be a member here that said it couldn't be done, and I said it could . That's how I did it , but that member is banned now.
