You already hooked up your backup camera? There is a harness that plugs into the OEM rear camera connection making it a yellow RCA to connect to the back of the HU.

The OBD cable gives you live access to all kinds of gauges - I’d definitely hook it up.

Do you know which back up camera connection to use. One has more cables that the other. Also, where does the steering wheel control cable go. The diagram shows it but does not show where to connect it.

It looks like only one of those adapters is going to fit the OEM plug. I think it’s the one with fewer wires.

Steering wheel cable is on the list of wires not used.

They actually both fit, I'll go with the one with more cables attached to it.

Do you know where this twisted cable connector from the obdII cable goes? I can't find a connector for that anywhere on the harness.

Probably nowhere. My OBD connection only used the single grey wire as well.

Check and make sure nothing is plugged in where the green circle is...

I haven't put the harness in the truck yet, I'm wrapping all the wires to keep it clean.

Is this cable required? If so, I have no idea how to hook it up.

You should have a connector for that in the truck. It was plugged into the stock HU and this adapter will connect your antenna to the new HU.

I left mine disconnected but I also don’t have the newer shark fin antenna. Not sure if it is required or not.

Now for the amp turn wire running to the amp from the head unit, do I tap that to (p cont) on the kenwood harness or the maestro harness (amp turn on)?

Maybe @Danman34 can weigh in. I didn’t run an amp turn on wire from behind the dash - I used a wire on the Tech12volts underseat harness. I’m guessing you could group it with this connection or tap into the same wire.

I believe it may be the (P Cont) on the kenwood harness so it will send the signal from the HU to the amp. If I tap it to the maestro I don't believe there will be a signal.

You may be right and I will need to tie all three together. I'll wait to get a final answer from someone before I do the final install.

Doesn't the truck have a remote turn on? Not sure which wire it is coming from the harness under the seat. Maybe the red wire? If that's the case I don't see why one would run a independent wire from the amp to the HU.

Yes, the one circled in blue. That is what I used and why I didn’t run a separate amp remote wire from the dash.

I'm going to just run it like you have it then, no need to add a additional wire. Thanks for the help today.

That’s for a power antenna. Like an old school retractable antenna. That’s not the amp turn on. Run the amp turn on from radio directly to the amp. Do not go through the maestro harness.

Which wire is the amp turn on for the kenwood harness? The (p cont.) wire in the picture is the only wire that is described to turn on the amp.

Edit: I see we are talking about two different things. I hooked up that antenna wire to the Toyota adapter wire. What wire do I tap to for the amp?

So for this adapter, the blue wire doesn't need to be tapped anywhere?

That’s for your am/fm antenna. The male piece plugs into the back of the radio and the female connects to the factory plug behind the dash. You do not have a power antenna. The blue wire Is not needed.

Okay, I'll cut the blue wire on it since I don't need it. Going back to the amp wire, so do I tie the wire from the amp to (p cont) on the kenwood harness?

FYI...on my 2020 I DID need to power the FM/AM antenna. I got one local station without power and it works perfectly with power. Apparently, this was a change made for 2020.

Also, I have never gotten the amp turn on wire to work with my setup but I think I tried using the blue wire under the passenger seat. Nothing happened and I've been relying on the amp's auto turn-on feature which is not perfect. The RED wire under the seat will turn on the Amp?

Ive been running it this way since I did the install a little over a year ago. Works perfect for my setup.

Does anyone know if this is required for 2019 models without the shark fin? I know Danman34 said it is not however, I just want to make sure I wire everything correctly so I don't have to pull it out again.

I guess the 2020 shark fin antennas need to have a separate power supplied to the antenna.

I confirmed with James at Tech12volts that the wire will need to run from (P CONT) to the amp itself.
