    I can tell you that while it should work this way, it doesn't. I went wheeling with a few Taco owners in December and one of the guys didn't have the diff breather extension. We did several creek crossings. When he got home and drained his rear diff it looked like coffee. It was full of water. The best thing for anyone who thinks they might go through water like that is to do the extension.

    That's normal. As the Maharishi of Mitts ( @Professional Hand Model ) stated above, it's pipe thread. The threads intentionally bind with each other to help form the seal.

    So your saying im good to go to just screw It in despite it having resistance? I have never heard of that but I learn something new every day. Just want to make sure before I go ahead and do it

    I ran mine up to the tail light when I did my mod. I was just say’n that making it a diff mounted two way is the worst thing you can do.

    They are a tapered thread, thats normal. NPT's are 60* with sharp peaks and vallys and BSPT are 55* with rounded peaks and valleys, fwiw.

    These are also a simple option.

    Axles are not water tight either, water gets in from the ends as well.

    King Coilovers, Pro Comp Wheels, BFG KO2s, Kenwood head unit
    After 20 years of ownership, I finally relocated my breather valve using the parts as described in post #12, but went with OE on the 2-way. I ran it up behind my driver’s side taillight. 9 ft of 3/8 fuel line, 2 hose clamps, and a zip tie. No problems getting the original 1-way off and it was still functioning as intended. I’ve done this mod before on my Tacoma, so it took about 15 minutes ... maybe.
