I did, I really didn’t experience bad customer service at all. They refunded me $100 of my purchase price to make up for having to modify the sliders

I got an email from Michael. I got the same offer of $100 refund. Not sure about taking it. RRW said their engineers say the design is sound. My engineers (my bother in law and two friends are engineers. One of them is a off roader with decades of experience). None of them would get under my truck if supported by these sliders.

    Pass.

$100 isn't enough to void warranty and risk messing something up to me.

It doesn't even cover 1/2 their shipping cost one way, let alone there and back if you legitimately refuse them, which is why they are offering it.

If you refuse, they are out waaaaay more. It should be there much, plus some compensation/risk for doing your own work in them

40% is what I'd want or I'd look at proper sliders from a reputable vendor.thst makes them to fit out of the box.

The 100 is compensation for having to take it to shop to get the two small holes bored out to sit over the rivet

That doesn't even cover the cost of most of our time to find a shop, arrange and explain what you want them to do, drive them there, drop them off, wait, drive back, pick them up and hope they did it right.

$100 is a tempting number, but doesn't cover squat....which is why they can offer it and people will accept. It's a game.

I agree, ship them back and get a refund. While your engineers are, to put it bluntly, dead wrong, about the ability of these sliders to hold up the vehicle; it is clear that you are never going to be happy with the sliders. Why not just get a set that you know you will like? You may have to wait longer but it will put your mind at ease. That or have your engineers design a set for you that will meet your/their standards for safety factor. I'm no engineer but I whipped these guys up last weekend and am very happy with the results (although my welds are strong but ugly.....and will be covered by thick bedliner)

They will be mounted with four 2x2 legs per slider with a 4" wide 2"x3" piece of 3/16 angle bolted to the frame at the end of each leg. Each mounting plate will have 2 bolts on the side of the frame and 1 on the bottom. That was the design we used on my old Tacoma and I beat the ever loving crap out of that truck in the rocks and the sliders never skipped a beat.

I don't yet. Need to build the legs and drill the frame. Hopefully have some time to get it done on Sunday but that depends on how my wheeling trip goes on Saturday.

I reached out and they offered me $100 refund. I ended up taking it. Too much of a headache to deal with them and send them back. Its annoying and should have not happened but I paid less then half of what I would have with another company. I have the tools and abilities to make the 1/2 inch cut will take me 10 mins. I don't off-road much and don't go that hard so I think these will hold up. With the 4 out of 5 bolts in each side they feel okay. Once I cut it and line everything up I will probably drill the bottom holes as well. As my girl friend said " You just about drilled or cut every other part of the truck what's 4 more holes"
I would not recommend them to anyone. Customer service is lacking emails are responded to, but takes days. They realized they made a mistake and are trying to blame something else. I do not buy the "it worked on our 2014 truck Toyota must have changed the rivets" Trucks been the same frame for years. Just own up to the manufacture messed up.

I only paid 850, so now it’s down to 750. I can drill 2 7/8” holes to make room for the rivets in the frame no problem. I still have 5 bolts in per side plus if I choose I can drill out the bottom bolts for added strength. I don’t mind 10-20 minutes of work to make these sliders fit and I’ve only paid 750. Yeah you could pay 1500 for sdhq sliders and not have to drill the 2 holes if that’s what you want

There are a whole lot of options between $850 ($750) sliders and $1,500 sliders from SDHQ. I think we get it. You're happy with your purchase.

Wheels seem to be their thing with the least amount of issues. Also, just go to El Monte and grab them.

I'd be curious what RRW would say if someone declined the $100.

That said, a local OffRoad shop said they can custom make me some for around $800cad ($650isd), bolt on, fill top plate, custom design, installed.

It's only a few bucks more than Nerf Bars, so I'll probably go that route and I can deal with the 1 man shop, buy local, face to face and work with them directly. All the big boys are $1500usd+, shipped to Canada, not including duty and any import taxes.

I thought about tell them to take them back, but I already mounted them (as much as I could with out cutting) Its been snow storm after snow storm here. I didn't want to deal with taking them back off, cleaning them, re boxing them up waiting for the shipper. If their only other option would be to return them and get new ones. Then waiting another 12 weeks to hope the "new design" fit

With the refund I'm at $600 for these

Happy with my purchase? I shouldn’t have had to modify them to fit my truck. But at the end of the day should I bitch about having to drill 2 holes? Probably not.

I think if it was a one-off thing there would be much less of a deal made of this. But it’s obviously more systemic and the vendor has allegedly been very hit and miss who he is responding to. As someone that was in the market for sliders when this thread picked up steam, I’m very glad I went a different route, even though I’m paying more money. I don’t have a stake in the whole conversation, but it’s important for others to know what they’re getting when they choose to spend money with this company.

Yes, if I had come across this thread before purchasing I would’ve steered in another direction for sure
