What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Screwed in the adaptor fittings last night and Fab’d up the bracket today on the Fluid Control Valve. Need a few minor adjustments and to buy some screws. Might do the install this weekend if weather permits. Probs go ahead and drop the Skid Plate and change my Engine Oil and do a Drain and Fill on the Transmission as both are due. Three birds with 2 stones.

 

My bilstein 5100s look like that with ~40k on them unfortunately

 

Went and finished messing around with the sensor and got the new one in. Reset the ABS light and drove around the yard a few times and got ABS to kick in three separate times without the light coming back on. Should be fixed.

You can see the difference between the two. Since this is such an expensive part I wanted to see if the old one would work after cleaning it up instead of replacing altogether which it obviously didn't.



This is how much I had to push the back the bearing housing and backing plate to replace it.

Technically shocks only last 40-50k before degrading in performance. Nature of the beast.


You just never really notice it because it happens so gradually unless the seal blows

 

My order for the 5-pin housing was refunded, it was for use with the plug that has Speedo & Reverse signals on the 05-06 models. NLA from Toyota.

So I cut the connector off and pinned it into the Tundra 20 pin connector. Re-pinned the 20+8 to 28pin adapter harness and radio now has speed & reverse signals.

Now to get the Reverse camera mounted.


Also got most of my interior LED conversion done, just waiting on a side firing footwell T5 and dome lamp.

Installed some door hinge reinforcements this morning.



Buttoned up my leather install with heated passenger seat and heated plus ventilated driver’s seat last night. Used factory switch for the passenger get and put the driver’s switch in the console near the USBs. Absolutely love the ventilated seat here in SWFL.

 

Who makes the reinforced pieces? I’ve never seen someone do tgat

 

I got them from a guy named George Bailey on the FB group First Gen Tundras.

 

I'm running those door reinforcements myself. They're really helpful considering almost every first gen I've seen has cracks around that door check.

I guess I never made a post here about it, but I've been running it since September.

Cracks in the metal? I've never heard of this issue before now.

 

The sheet metal in the door that surrounds the door check tends to tear/crack when people rip their doors open too hard. Most people don't even notice the damage until it's been ripped out almost entirely. It'd be worth checking your door jams for any signs or symptoms.

I tried to do the PS fluid swap like another member just finished doing, I tried to outsmart the truck and not turn the wheel, just knee the tires back and forth from the passenger front wheel so I could watch and monitor the fluid swapping action........no movement at all.....
Like scabby Steve says in that video, you have to turn the wheel to get the fluid to move out. I did 2+ qts, my old stuff didn’t look to bad but it wasn’t difficult, so win win

 

Was $40 shipped for the DC. Less for AC.

 

Today I decided I would sell the Sequoia cluster and take a page out of @empty_lord’s book instead with the green and white. I like them both, now I’m torn.

Edit: hard to see, but I left the gas pump icon green. Gonna tell my kids it’s a hybrid
