That really is a wall of chrome. I personally like the look of the Sport package, especially with a Tremor. A clone of that would look great!

If you're driving mostly city, no truck will get good mileage.

I'm glad someone else looks through Longterm Quality Index. This site is fantastic.

It also passes the smell test from working on cars for decades. It mostly matches my experiences with very few exceptions.

To say that Toyota, and in particular some specific models, dominates that index is an understatement of massive proportion. The indexes give you a clear picture of what models and manufacturers are really doing well.

My only critique is (very minor) cars that are true homeruns don't "register" for a while and by the time they are registering they are many many model years old. Put another way, an OEM fixes all the bugs in a car that was a really poor unit. By the time these register, and move the needle positively, that particular model has 125k or more miles. But...it is hard to predict these things ahead of time so...this critique isn't much of a critique.

Yes...this ain't your father's Honda anymore...Honda used to be a good competitor to Toyota. I'd honestly take a domestic OEM over a Honda in almost every car. Odessey not withstanding...but then again I'd be driving the Sienna if I was in mini van territory.

If I was forced to get a minivan, I'd pay half as much to get into a Kia.

I see the logic in it. If you buy a Sienna, you’re stuck with it. If you buy a Kia, it’ll break down and you can say, “see? Minivans are junk!”

And just like that, no more minivans.

No one in my family has ever had a problem with any Kia or Hyundai we've owned other than a battery in my brother's Tucson that went dead after 3 years.

Stay as far away from Hyundai's as possible. They have oiling issues in many of their engines where one of the the tubes is too small and will cause the cams to wear out. They are replacing numerous engines and there's class action lawsuits against them. Needing to replace the engine even after proper maintenance is why the wife is in a Ram now and not a Tucson.

I know their 1.6T engines have problems but we all went with NA options: 2.4L for me and 2.0L for my dad and brother.

I’ve said this on another thread somewhere , my ex’s father had a 1984 Dodge Aries ( K-Car ) with 750k on it with nothing but regular maintenance. Accidents do happen and not all of them bad .

My parents 2015 pilot is a disaster. They got an extended bumper to bumper warranty and it has saved them easily 6-7 grand so far.

A friend of mine just bought a new one for his wife. His dealership would not sell him the 7-yr 100k bumper to bumper Honda warranty. They kept pushing a 3rd party warranty on him. He declined more times than he thought he should need to. Then he started looking around online and found a dealership in Rhode Island that would actually sell him the Honda warranty. He called his dealership back to let them know. They weren’t happy.

    Heck em, I say.

The small diesel is a hard sell to me. Me and two coworker who bought ecodiesels had this discussion. They paid a $4,995 premium for the motor, a little quick math to compare price per mile is not very attractive.

    Regular fuel natl average: 2.243 @ Tundra's 16mpg = .14 per mile (https://www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/)
    Diesel national average: 2.635 @ ED's 31 mpg = .085 per mile
Savings goes to ecodiesel at .055 per mile

Divide that savings per mile by the premium and you'll break even somewhere at 90,000 miles. Not quite the savings they expected, but you do feel better at the pump. And they also get to brag about their mpg. You'd have to offer the diesel at the same price for me to even consider accepting all the other losses

The diesel math will never make sense unless you tow/haul serious weight for extended miles.

the average American does not even keep their vehicle for 90k miles. I doubt many ram owners are either

it makes sense for people driving way above average mileage. The average guy driving to home depot and camping 3-4 times a year doesn’t rack up the miles

Oh yes I absolutely agree with that

sorry, I thought it was about reliability for that time period, not the cost of the Diesel engine/ savings

There’s a guy on the 5th gen Ram forum with a newer eco diesel that has 500k on it so far with only regular maintenance that he does himself . He hauls and tows constantly. I believe he said he’s still on the original brakes .... I guess that makes sense when you put that many miles on in that short of a time span that you’re not doing a lot of stopping .

It's the NA ones that also have the problems. The dealer we took our 2.0 to said it was the 11th engine replacement he's done on those. Hyundai knows it's such a bad problem they didn't even need proof of oil changes to changes the engine under warranty since I did them myself and we still hadn't found the receipts when they approved the change under warranty.

I know that’s a 4th gen but we don’t turn people away for not having a 2019 + . Same as this forum not turning away people without Tundras .
