Sorry......mental block. Yes.....Sheehy of Stafford. I'm so used to calling it by it's former name.

and yes, you probably are the other customer. She did tell me that it was a white Tundra. Said that you had customer service on the line and you weren't happy with them. Can't say that I blame you, I still haven't heard from corporate.

She sent me this exact info earlier today. So it looks like they've narrowed the problem down to being the keyfob.

I’m having the same issue and someone else pointed me to this thread. They should be enabling Remote Connect for free for those of us that are impacted while they fix the issue.

Exactly what I suggested the service manager ask for. At the very least it will compensate for our issue.

Right... that is the "glitch" Toyota acknowledged and is currently working on. You were supposed to maintain (same as we all) keyfob remote-start functionality without regard to subscription status.

I see that now after reading the rest of the thread. As others have said, they should be extending our Remote Connect until they figure it out.

When I enabled my Remote Connect trial, they told me that my key fob remote start would stop working in a year. Anyone hit that yet?

Yes... pretty much all of us, however, it is not supposed to according to Toyota. The key fob functionality is supposed to stay active for a period of 3 to 10 years (depending on your audio system and vehicle model year) without regard if the Remote Connect subscription is inactive. (See Toyota acknowledgment a few posts before this one.)

Just to make sure it doesn't get "lost", here is the PDF file of Toyota's website stating the key fob should keep working.

I called Toyota corporate today. The girl I spoke with confirmed that there is a nationwide outage impacting certain VINs. They have no ETA on a fix. She also said that there is no guarantee that reenabling remote connect will get the fob remote start working again. She transferred me to another department to see if they could get me a few months of Remote Connect for free as "good will", but the second person hung up on me attempting to transfer me once again. 50 minutes wasted.

Well... In my case, I really don't mind installing an aftermarket remote start module but Toyota must keep my warranty valid without regard to the module installed.

Or, another feasible solution from Toyota during the next month or so.

By then I'll consider my options and go from there.

Glad I found this. Tried to key fob remote start this morning (subscription ended) and nothing. First world problems in 28 degree weather. So I lit the truck on fire to stay warm and claimed insurance. 2021 coming soon.

I’m currently on the phone with a Toyota “Brand Engagement Specialist”, and he’s explained it more clearly to me. Apparently the rule for the key fob is that as long as you have any Toyota Connected Service active, the key fob remote start is supposed to work. That didn’t make sense to me since my trials expired after a year until he explained that destination assist is for three years on audio plus, and ten years on premium. That is why it should continue to work. He is currently escalating my claim, and trying to get it to the right department. I will update once I hear more.

Wonder if this is only something they'll fix if you're willing to call and complain or if they'll roll out a nationwide update after enough people have called.

So what they told me is that the Remote Connect department is working on a fix, and all key fobs should start working once they have a fix. They said to keep trying intermittently. They also said they’re having an issue where they can’t reactivate Remote Connect if you renew your subscription. If mine isn’t working by the end of the month I’m going to contact them and politely request they reactivate my app at least until they get a fix - that is unless that can’t do that either.

Wow, reading through all these threads. I definitely used the remote start on my 2021 before messing with the Toyota app. Now that I have all that enabled I am beginning to think that was a mistake. Fairly certain that the remote start only comes on the SR5 trims with the TRD OR or Sport package, then all the trims above that. Part of the reason I didn't go with the base SR5 with the upgrade package. Having the remote start, smart key, and dual zone climate is worth it!

The keyfob functionality in all likelihood just a register set in the ECU. I haven't got to play with TechStream yet. Has anyone on the board checked to see what settings are available? Anyone done any coding on a Tundra?

I reactivated Remote Connect today to see what would happen. The app works for lock/unlock but remote start doesn't work (failure to connect). The good news is that now my fob works for remote start again.

I wonder if you were to deactivate it, if the fob would immediately stop remote starting...

In my situation, the key fob stopped working at one year and I had not downloaded the app and did not pay for anything. I was simply in the trial period because I agreed to have the dealer sign me up for it the day I bought the truck.

Toyota got me! I’m hooked with the free trial, I love the connect app. Not necessarily the app itself but starting the truck from the app and my watch has been awesome. My trial ends in August. I rarely use the fob to start the truck. I’ve even started the truck from my Jeff Bezos Echo. Maybe I’m just lazy and don’t want to move in range for the fob. Plus I am a person who stresses if I left the doors unlocked, tailgate down, etc....
