Would a TRD sway bar improve cornering ability, or any other ideas? Not happy with current cornering, feels like outside tire is being hammered into the asphalt on sharp corners at speed; entire suspension is new, tubular control arms, 3" lift.

2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
Restore your truck to factory stock; no lift, no suspension mods. Your cornering will be excellent

I don’t know about that. My truck came with the TRD off road suspension and it felt like a boat around corners. Very floaty feeling.

OP a rear sway bar will help cornering no doubt. That’s what it’s made for. I’m running a 3” lift on 33.5” tires and it fees very planted. I also have the front TRD sway bar but with just the rear it felt so much better. There’s tons of info on how much the rear sway bar helps these trucks if you use the search bar.

Did you get alignment after the lift? A good alignment makes a huge difference. And yes the TRD rear sway bar makes a difference also

Gotta go back to stock lol. I love the cornering on my lifted truck with mud tires. I don’t drive my truck for it’s speed or cornering though.

Yes, aligned by a really good master tech who specializes in lifted trucks - he nailed the alignment, truck is amazing and can corner way better than stock in most situations; what I am talking about is like whipping a 90-degree corner at 30mph - more of like sharp low speed turns, the outside tire just seems to have a lot of weight/pressure put on it - almost a speed hop chirp; all I can think is a sway bar to even out the weight distribution?!

Thanks, I really hadn't thought about a rear sway bar at all - my mind just went to the front one, that sounds really promising; is the TRD setup worth it?

In my opinion yes. There is an aftermarket rear sway bar made by hellwig that a lot of guys use. It’s beefier than the TRD but for me the TRD sway bars made a huge difference in cornering as well as stability and steering feel. I’d say start with the rear and see if that’s enough, if not then go with the front as well. You already have a front sway bar but it’s hollow. The TRD front is solid steel.

The truck handles worlds better than stock in most every instance - its just this one scenario that I mentioned - such as cutting a 90-degree corner at say 30mph for a turn - you do that and the outside tire seems to just take all the trucks weight as it pounds that tire into the pavement.

Thinking this rear sway bar others mentioned is an idea? Not sure if upgrading the front one to the larger TRD too is worth it?

I find it slightly amusing when people complain about the handling of their trucks. It's a truck, not a sports car.

I have both TRD front and rear. You will notice and improvement with both, but you will notice the rear more since it doesn't have one currently. The body roll is greatly reduced. Sparksparts has both of them.

Apologies for my earlier sarcasm. I actually think that you are on track. I would start with the Toyota rear sway bar. If you feel it still needs improvement upgrade the front bars. Good luck!

I'm not saying people can't modify their vehicles to suit them. I'm all for that. I'd just say don't be too surprised if it doesn't turn out the way you hoped. Although that can be half the fun.

A Camry corners better than a Highlander. A Highlander corners better than a Tundra. A Tundra corners better than a Kenworth.

You haven't seen me playing American Truck Simulator. I can corner a Kenworth pretty well, until it rolls over that is.

    Yes.

A lower than stock center of gravity is better than one that is higher than stock, no big deal either way because
A rear anti-roll bar will improve the trucks cornering capabilities.
Your choice of tires, and shocks can make the cornering experience even better.

    Slowing down improves poor cornering.

Have you tried cutting the muffler off? It'll sound like you're going a lot faster than you actually are. :homer:

Yes, think I will give the rear bar a shot.

I really think rear coil springs would make a world of difference too, but no one seems to sell a conversion kit.

Apparently there is a coil spring Dodge Ram?!

    RM019_067FNhavtuo2ahu9q0sj7hooro2d09m_661b8c4369a98b40b426ba7156f92561d479dde0.jpg

If you could find a wrecked Dodge RAM for parts this setup doesn't look like it would be all that hard to weld onto a Tundra really.

Quite frankly I've heard that the RAM rear coil suspension is nice actually. Rumors are that the tru 3rd gen tunny may be configured with the rear coils ...
