A couple months ago we met Cody - @MidwestOverlanders - and made some sliders for his Tundra TRDPRO, Brutus. Since then we've seen a very strong interest in our sliders and Cody has trusted us with his truck to take on front & rear bumpers, full front to rear skid plates (pics coming soon) and now a low pro front bumper. We're very close to having them production ready and thought we would throw up some pictures now that we've roughed in the low pro bumper.

This is our low pro winch bumper. It was designed around a smittybuild X20 12k winch. Will fit almost any remote solenoid winch up to this size as the winch bucket is the full width of the frame rails of the truck. It is about 1.5" tighter to the truck than our plate bumper so depth of the winch should be paid attention to.

This Low Pro bumper is fully bolt on with no cutting, or modification of any kind necessary to the stock bumper. The Tundra bumper fully disassembles and the center section simply unbolts and is set aside. It can be reinstalled at any time.

The mounting plates are 1/4" thick and the bumper side bracket has been laminated to 1/2" thick where it connects to the mounting brackets on the truck. You can tug on that with any winch and it will not pull through. The mounting brackets are fully adjustable in every direction. Including at the trucks frame mount and the connection between the brackets and the bumper. Aligning the gap wide for off rood purposes or narrow for street style is a matter of adjusting it to your preference. The stock plastic bumper corners are also independantly adjustable from the center section to compensate for manufacturing tolerances at Toyota and our shop. It can all be adjusted to your preferred gap alignment. A 1"+ gap to the fenders and grille is recommended for off road use. the body mounts on this truck are very soft. Anything smaller could result in contact with and damage to the fenders as the body moves around on the frame.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
I like it. Simple addition of a winch without major change in appearance from stock on the front end. Full bolt on and and ability to go back to stock if you ever sell the truck.

Think that mounting is going to hold up without any gussets? Also curious why you're keeping the intermediate aluminum standoffs and not just bolting straight to frame?

The mounting brackets aren't shown in these pictures. And from that question you don't see whats going on here.

My mounting brackets are directly to the frame and I do think they will hold up as they have been holding up on the full plate bumper with a 12k winch. They are also reinforced and fully adjustable so the bumper can be setup with a large gap for the guys off roading that will be flexing the body mOunts quite a bit or a small to no gap for the guys who stay on the road and want a tighter look.

I'm also not keeping the aluminum crash bar.

The outer pads only mount the factory cross bar that holds the bumper end caps on. This Is also adjustable so the end caps can be aligned to the new center bumper section to the customers taste without running into factory tolerances.

Factory bumper end caps then bolt right back on the toyota sheet metal like they did from the factory.

    Thanks.

The only changes from the pics in the OP to those today are that we welded the seams and sanded them smooth. So the pics in the OP are how the bumper will look on the truck. Making arrangements now to get the finished bumper mounted on the truck when we can get together.

This steel one is ~85lbs. An AL version would be ~40ish% lighter.

Would you really trust an all aluminum version? I feel it would bend at the frame mounting points. Our hidden winch mount only weights in at 55lbs, but we also designed ours for a clean stock look while keeping the weight as close to the front suspension as possible to decrease how far the front end is pulled down by weight. Looks to be as yours is also catered to the more common cheaper Smittybilt winches as we designed ours around the Warn.

We built with the new smitybuilt winch because that's what the customer brought in. From what research I've done the Warns without integrated solenoids are roughly the same size and should fit. I would be interested in seeing how many of each brand winch people are buying to know if we should tailor things one way or another?

Material thickness would change for an AL version - hence ~40% lighter and not the 55%+ that going straight over to same thickness AL would yield. I don't want to make it sound like I would ignore the real world but with a well setup FEA I can run a through simulation and determine appropriate changes before building in the real world and have a pretty good confidence before burning through a bunch of material.

Less from the mechanical engineering stand point and more from the practical side of things this is what I see. At the end of the day every winch is bolted down with 4 ~3/8" bolts in single shear and the attachment to the truck frame is a handful of 10mm studs that are grade 5 at best. Those OEM bumper mount studs are all tugging on the threads not even using the shear strength of the bolts. Once make everything around that stronger than those connections with a reasonable factory of safety theres not much more you can do. You'll pull the threads off the factory Toyota bolts before You bend 3/8" 6xxx series AL thats laminated with another piece of 1/4" or 3/8" AL.

And there are a lot of all AL winch bumpers on the market from various companies already. Some of which - from an engineering standpoint - look pretty sketchy, but are very visually appealing. And they have been used, abused and been through car crashes.
