PRO - How much under MSRP can you expect?

Dealer is full O'crap

 

It does depend on your region/area and of course timing. If you can wait, you will get a better deal. An easy way that doesn't waste your time is to just email all the dealers in your area exactly what you want. Ask what is the lowest price they can do.

 

DFW dealer has one listed at $1800 off MSRP. Dealer in OKC has 3 listed. Photos look like the same truck. MSRPs are all different. I think photos are of one. I wonder if he is listing all the available inventory in the area whether it is on his lot or not.

 

every dealer here wanted a markup. Most were 2-5K with 2 guys out of their minds at $10-15K (Wouldn't even budge when I was willing to pay full cash up front).

Unfortunately the lower MSRP's weren't colors I wanted......well one was but it sold on my way there.

 

that's the route I went. Got $5K off of a limited....had suspension and wheels on first week.....

 

I think the difference between TX and the west cost is people in Tx want Platinums and such and those out west are willing to pay an upcharge for the Pros. I got 10% off on my Baja when all the people on the west coast said no way. Heck there are 20 white Pros in inventory within 200 miles of me.

 

In my search I found dealers were listing trucks that were already sold or that were already traded to other dealerships. If you can't see real pictures I wouldn't trust that they actually have anything. I talked to a dealer for a week before driving into the dealership to test drive a pro they had. The salesman was well aware of this and when I got there he said "by the way we don't actually have that truck. But we have this SR5 with a pro grill, pro exhaust and a spacer lift for $51k"

 

The were all real pictures. I just think they used the pics of one truck for 3. I checked inventory through cars.com and the problem with it is they do not have good lists of equipment and options. All 3 had different MSRPs. In a couple of months I will find out if these dealers are for real ir not.

 

I just looked at the dealer website and it looks like he actually has 4 but who knows without seeing them in person.

I paid sticker for my Cement DC there were none within 1k miles that I could find. So I said f it as I wanted it

 

I got almost 9 thousand off MSRP when I bought a 2007 Unlimited. It was MSRP at 38,240 and I paid 29,600. I bought it on 29 December 2007, when the dealer had too much inventory and had to make room for the 2008's. It had only 234 miles on the odometer. I always buy new cars at the end of the year, as that is when you can get the best price from them. Got mines at Tom McCombs Toyota dealer in San Antonio, TX.

Its, March 2017 and I have 216,443 miles on it. Still running smooth.

 

I was driving home from work and north hollywood toyota(Ca) has a Wht 17 Tundra Trd Pro CM with bed liner and n-fab steps. Price was $58k plus tax. Out the door would be about $63-$64K. $7k was dealer mark up.

 

I got 3k off sticker on my 17 pro. 46k and some change, I used to work at that dealership so that may have had something to do with it. I know when I was selling cars there a pro went for sticker, no discount.

 

I bought a white CM TRD Pro about 2 weeks in NC. Paid $44,800 out the door including tax, tags, dealer fee. Equated to about $42,500 for the truck. Not sure how the guy got me that price. Took his quote to another dealer and they actually laughed and said it couldn't be done. The dealer I got it from quoted me $43,800 on a Limited so I took a chance and asked about the TRD Pro to see if he could get me one. He came back with $44,800 and it took me about 10 minutes to calm down before I called him and told him I was on the way. It had 191 miles on it when I got there because he had to get it from another dealership. MSRP on mine was $49,009

 

Did you end up getting a PRO? Montco, PA here. I drove one in Allentown in February - by the time I came back later in day to pull the trigger it was gone. I have since bought a Limited Off Road.

 

No unfortunately. They can't really come off th sticker price at all so I am going to the Limited. Getting a much better deal that way.

 

I originally got my dealership to take $48k, which was $1k off of their asking price.

My truck was supposed to be delivered back at the end of February. Well the car salesman that was originally helping me and was supposed to submit the order for my truck did not do it properly and walked off the job the following day. So it never got ordered. Well when I checked up to see what the status is at the beginning of March no one knew what was happening. I still had the receipt for my down payment and I showed it them and they tracked the receipt number and determined the error.

So to make along story short I raised a little hell with them. They took off another $3k to keep me from going across town...so I got my truck for $45k. I literally just got my truck 3 days ago.

 

Just picked up my cement CM pro for $43k

 

My 2015 PRO was about 6k off but it had lift, rims/tires, leather (not std in '15) and other stuff. The 6k off came out of the accessories. Truck was totaled about 18 months later and i got a check for 50K and owed well under that. Bought my 2016 PRO and only managed about 1K off bc there were no accessories to discount and dealer had "no wiggle room". Good luck getting them to come down on the PRO, you may be better wrestling an alligator!

 

Some of you guys got killer deals on your pros. I talked to 30 dealerships and only had two willing to come down on price for me. I ended up only saving about $500 on my pro but I got my salesman to buy me all weather floor mats and some toyota shwag when I picked up my truck so that was about another $300 discount that came out of his commission . I also chose the dealership with the lowest tax rate in my state so that saved me a few grand in taxes. It all sorta evens out. I say buy once cry once. I love my truck and haven't regretted the purchase for a second.

 

Looked online to see what was in stock. Found one in maryland, called the dealership and told them we were ready to buy tonight and asked how much they would give off on the advertised online price. The sales guy talked to his manager and called back and said $2500 off. It was a done deal after that. Transaction was very smooth and quick.

 

I used Cars.com and kept checking for the "perfect storm" when I bought mine in December:
1) End of the month
2) End of the year
3) Newer dealership and/or special inventory specials
4) Not a so called "truck" market

Found that in Rhode Island with Grieco Toyota. Nice folks and did the deal over the phone....then flew out from Indiana using flyer miles. They picked me up at the airport and the price came in at about 3k under the window sticker at 42k. Only odd part was in the finance office when they "forgot" a $40 charge for something. Wasn't going to lose the deal for that, but was a little odd. Probably bought them lunch that day or something....

Will say one thing, though. Driving back home, in freezing rain, through NYC in a brand-new truck was not a good time. (One kind drive honked and "waved" at me as I merged onto the GW bridge) Now, it's just a fun story to tell friends. Also, by buying on the east coast didn't get a FFV. I'd have been happy either way on the engine, though.

Funny, Grieco called for a while asking if I was coming in for regular "service." They finally realized I wouldn't drive 1k miles for an oil change...

I've wanted a Tundra Pro CM since I first laid eyes on that color last summer.

Since the dealer markups out west were $7500+ I was down with traveling some other place else for same rig at MSRP or below. But when a couple dealers were showing me prices of a 2017 White Crewmax Limited 4x4 for $7200 off MSRP my love for that color quickly left
Well FFWD to now and 2018 Tundras come in CM now.

So for comparison I could get a 2017 White Crewmax Limited for $7200 or more off MSRP plus difference on MSRP on 2017 Pro CM.
That's nearly $10K just for paint color!!

So then the 2018 in CM is quoted around $3k-$4k off MSRP so on this case it's $3k-$4k more for CM plus the standard options on 2018s. But 2018 prices are $3K than 2017.
That equates to about $6k-$7k more for 2018 Crewmax Limited v. 2017 White Crewmax Limited.



This is a crazy mess!!
