It just isn't a popular tire size. Also anybody running 295/70 will admit to the mpg loss, just nobody cares because they were only getting maybe 16mpg to begin with. If it drops an mpg, who cares? The power loss is negligible. I noticed it the first time driving after putting on my bigger tires, but you get used to it fast. It just becomes normal and feels plenty powerful.

I highly doubt there would be any rubbing, but I don't know first hand. I bet C4 could tell you.

Like you said, the middle number is the ratio. It's the ratio of the sidewall height to the width. The first number is the width in millimeters. So a 295/70 is 295mm wide, or about 11.6 inches. The sidewall is 70% of the width, or 8.12-ish inches. Double that and add the size of your wheel and you get the overall height of the tire.

3mpg on average after a 3/1 lift and 295/70s. Started at about 16mpg, currently getting about 13. Worse in the winter due to remote starting the vehicle.

Same here. 285/75 Duratracs. Mounted on Ray10’s, so the offset is a bit different (+25) and UCAs. Noise-wise, I’m pretty impressed. They grip really well in the rain and snow, which was my main reason for getting the Duratracs. I DO have some rubbing at full lock in reverse, only at the front, even with pushing in the fender a bit. Great clearance all around otherwise. Pretty sure if I get more aggressive with fender mods, I’ll be able to solve it. I’ve got Coachbuilder shims that will solve it for sure when I get the bumper & winch work done.

I’m in the same boat as Terndrerr with the spare... There’s images online showing the tabs that need to be drilled out. The hitch makes it a bit tight too. I’ve measured and remeasured and it appears tight, but do-able.

I think the 285’s look good on there. Hows that Wescott lift? Did it change the ride or handling at all? Did you do the block in the rear or a shackle?

You’ve got minimal rubbing with +25 wheels—that’s good news to me. I’m considering going with some SCS wheels in the spring. I had F5s on my 4Runner. I’d love to shed some weight at each corner.

How often are you rotating? I’m shooting for every 3k miles.

I haven’t had to rotate yet. Only 2000 km so far. I’ll probably do them every 7000 km.

what part of the car is it rubbing? I wonder with the bbs wheels it would not rub.

That’s a pretty significant loss. I get about 14 mpg on the stock tires.

My buddy has the 295‘s and I can very slightly see the difference.
I don’t think I would go the ridge grappler route again though.

Just in the middle of the front inner fender liner, but only at full lock in reverse...

    Price.

I do like them and they perform great. But looking back, I could have saved a lot of money if I went another route.

Used the Westcott block in the rear. Rides the same as it did before I put it all on.

Good walk around vid that shows the 285/70r18 Ridge Grappler from the side. He initially had the 295/70r18 on a 2020 Pro, sold that truck, then got a new 2021 Pro and chose the 285/70r18 Ridge Grappler instead.

I'm sold. I ordered the 285/70r18 Ridge Grappler.

I think I have also decided on the 285/70/18s over the 295s mainly due to the weight difference. The 295s are 10lbs heavier in the Ridge Grapplers and we take our truck everywhere so if I can salvage some MPGs I'll take it.

There is a lot to consider as my truck came with 275/65R18. The Nitto on there now are 116T, coming in at 42lbs per tire. Going up in tire size after my suspension gets here will add quite a bit of weight.

In 295/70, weights fluctuate from 69lbs for wildpeak a/t3 (129r) to 51lbs for nitto terras (116s). In 285/75, weights from 59lbs for discoverer at3xlt to 68 for open country a/t III. There doesn’t seem to be many options for a 116 tire, most are 129 in these sizes, which I assume is due to weight and size of the vehicle.

No idea. Pulled the setup off of my 2013 before I sold it. It had the 4.6 and I averaged 14.1 with it.

Put on 285/70r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers yesterday. 34 x 11.5 in. No rubbing at full lock forward or reverse. Stock TRD Pro suspension and rims. No trimming and all madflaps remain in place. Only difference that I can tell is that they’re a little louder at interstate speeds. No mileage data yet. Very happy with them so far.

I like the 285/70/18 size also, but not the price. Most of the 295’s are cheaper as noted before and aside from the RG’s the weight difference is minimal.
