Well today I got everything installed. Unhooked the neg to the battery to connect the positive on the amp. Didn't put the fuse in.
    BAM.
Once reconnected the alarm sounds. Try to start and it won't even turn over. There was a moment of three fast horn beeps.
After $3000 it is dead again.
I don't know what kind of horse shit toyota puts in these things but I will never own another one. Why would I own a vehicle that I can't change the battery?

What the hell? So whatever they "fixed" didnt fix the problem at all. When the horns goes off means the alarm was activated. It need to go back. They didn't fix it.
The only time i know of the horns going off is with aftermarket alarm system. It will blast everytime the battery get hook back up. Pressing unlock on the key fob will stop the alarm.

Ok, update.... Once I ducked taped the vien in my head back together after my stroke, I decided to put everything in, make it clean and smooth before I fired bombed the dealership (because that helps in some societies).
Before you started, I completely unhooked the battery. I don't know why but hoping it would erase any logs. Then I began hooking up everything, installing the head unit, putting back all panels, installing the passenger seat, etc.
It looked like a clean, normal truck. Ok guess I better hook the battery up and act like I don't know what happened.
I did so, alarm sounded, pushed buttons on fob, nothing, then put the key in and started it.

    It turned over and ran.
    It's a Christmas miracle! ⛄

I let it run for about 10 minutes then drove it around some. Back home, shut off, restarted like a dream. Tried the other key, all good.

I have no idea what happened but damn am I relieved!!!!

That spot will be ok for ground. Just sand off the paint first.

I still don't understand how unhooking your factory radio and hooking up the aftermarket radio kills your truck, prevent it from starting.

Were there anything in the maestro that you need to setup regarding immobilizer?

It was removing the neg battery cable that did it, not radio removal. The maestro I just downloaded, installed. Only thing it really asked was JBL system and steering wheel controls.

Of course I haven't tested anything yet but the head unit does boot up.

I also noticed your post elsewhere about speakers. As soon as I am up and running, I'll let you know what I think about brightness. 20201213_163228_HDR.jpg

Im still scratching my head on why unhooking the negative terminal would cause the truck to not start.
That's the proper way to do all electrical work on all vehicle. There's something weird going on with the truck still.
Let me know bout the speakers. I ended up getting the cdt cl-61 components during their 50%off sale. Just the front though. I still need the rear. So i may still get the hertz k165 for it.

From what you said, i gather the radio and amp installation is not a correlation to the truck not starting. Only unhooking the negative battery terminal cause the no start.

This still lead me to think your immobilizer system is acting very wonky. That's where i would focus my attention on.

There is a Factory ground spot with bolt and wire on the passenger side. Under the carpet where i circled in red. You'll have to pull the carpet up to see it.
If you are setting your amp under the passenger seat then use this point.

I've been working on automotive electrical systems for over 30 yrs, there is no way that unhooking the ground or re attaching it caused these problems. There is/was another issue somewhere.

He is correct the stock AMP also had a ground on the front ledge, I just opted to utilize one of the stock bolt downs for the stock AMP to manage how my wires would run.

I will look when I get home. Keep in mind that I did not have a factory amp installed, this was the most basic truck.

There would be a pre-drilled hole there even if you didn't have the factory amp.

No bolt there, however to make it easier on me, I chose a more accessible spot. I put on a wire brush on my drill, cleaned off paint to the metal, drilled a hole and sunk a screw there. Works great.

Next is getting the maestro to work. The head unit shows a greyed out icon for gauges and vehicle information. Haven't had time to look at that part yet. Just glad I got music to work, phone connects though haven't tried to make a call yet.

I like the sound of the Hertz speakers. They are not too bright to me.

    Glad you made good progress.
Did you plug in the obd2 plug from the maestro unit? That would get car info to read. There may also be some setting in the radio that need to turn on or something for it to show up.

I chose an easy spot to get to between the passenger seat and door, ground away the paint, drilled a small hole smaller that the screw, then drove it in. Nate metal meets the neg wire

I had to pull it all open again. My maestro wasn't working and my front usb wasn't working either.
I didn't hook up two plugs on the maestro, duh. And I switched the usb so it works now.
During the original installation, I broke part of the pull out cup holder. I installed a new one from eBay while at it. Finally some simple success.
I also ran the rear camera wire to the bumper. Should have that working tomorrow.
    It was a good day.
After cameras, I need to figure out the android auto stuff. Right now it seems a bigger pain than worth it. I would like to get the waze app to work correctly though.

Im glad you stayed with it and getting it to work.
It shouldn't be too hard figuring out the Android Auto. I'd youtube your radio's model and android auto how to and it would guide you through .

Ever figured out what the deal with your truck not starting after unhooking the battery?
Did you bring it back to the dealership?
