The only thing I didn’t bleed was the MC so maybe there’s air in there? I did the booster check with brake pedal and it passed that.

Had I not ended up bleeding twice I wouldn’t feel as confident as I do in saying I got the air out.

It’s almost what didn’t I do. Rotors, pads, calipers all PowerStop Z36. New Wheeler’s up front.

New Toyota drums and shoes. New wheel cylinders. Wheeler’s in the back.

When I bled I went rear passenger, LSPV, rear driver, front passenger, front driver. Started each with 10-15 pumps then checked MC and bottle.

    Used Bosch 5.1 fluid.

You sure they are adjusted correctly?
I believe the correct sequence is rear passenger, rear driver, then LSPV. The LSPV is closer to the MC than the rear wheels. But I doubt that is your issue. I doubt you have the same issue is me because you didn't move up to 14WA's.

Um, I'm not sure if it's a bleeder valve or a zerk because my grease gun fits on it, but it looks like theirs a zero on the inside of my front brake calipers? I assumed it was the bleeder but my zerk gun snaps right onto it..:monocle:

I made the same misidentification on the LSPV, but at the time I didn't know what that mechanism looked like.

Now... I am real curious to see how much easier his brakes will extend, and retract with them being greased. You may even be able to clean all the gunkies out of the cylinders.

I put the Self Adjuster to the point I couldn't get the drum on, then backed it off just enough to slip the drum over with just about as little of a gap as I could do.

That makes sense. I suppose I could look into the MC bleed and then re-bleed the system again. I mean, I'm always looking for a reason to crawl around on the ground. :D

When I went through this a few weeks ago the feedback I got is that when adjusted correctly the drums will be tight to the point you won't be able to slide them off. You would have to go through the glory hole in back the next time you need to remove them. Also, Empty Lord said the ABS system sometimes has to be burped. I tried to do that but finding a gravel road around here isn't easy. I don't see why you would need to bleed the MC but I guess anything is possible. I'm far from an expert on any of this and most of my advice is what I just received from people on here recently.

Interesting. I will go tighter with the drums. I could probably find a gravel road, but I'm curious about this burping. The closest thing I've read about is a dirt road and slamming on brakes from 15MPH range to check the skid marks and see how much more the rears are locking up than the fronts.

It was my understanding that the ‘Supercharger’ is what caused some of these transmissions to fail. The extra power overwhelmed the system. Toyota, who sold and installed the Superchargers, was on the warranty hook as the failures were happening inside the period. They discontinued the manufacture.

    Thats what I read elsewhere.

You hear any strange noises on the truck lately? I bet the cold is doing strange things. I’d take a drive and listen real close.

A properly adjusted Parking Brake would eliminate the need for Star Adjustments. I have done the Star Adjustments in the past only because I followed the FSM instructions, but did not realize (not in FSM):

    1) The Crank Arms were seized at the little pin at end of cables. There is a pin that was seized in both the holes which prohibited the Cranks from full articulation.

    2) In addition to the seized pins, there are sneaky little clips under the main cable ends brackets that were seized as well. The pins go through both. The sneaky clip can inhibit articulation.

    3) The ‘Equalizer’ Bracket (at center diff area) has two articulation points. One is obvious and the other is not. My not obvious one was seized, but it wasn’t obvious as it looks like a solid bracket.

    4) The ‘Equalizer’ Bracket also has sneaky plastique bushings. There are two. One of mine was chewy up skewing the angle of dangle which threw off the cable pull.

You’ll need to put hands on these items to understand them. I trusted the FSM, but it only goes so far. Use 3in1 Oil to lube and clean and load up MolyB Grease wads on the articulations/levers. I used Silglyde on the plastique bushings.

Welcome to the club!! You'll love those wheels. :D

Post pics when you get them mounted. I'm interested to see how they look on a black truck.

@Outbound I debated on the black vs grey for a solid month. Will be reusing my lugs for now. Hopefully new tires in the next two weeks.

Got it back from the tint job. It was the aftermarket blue tint that was peeling. Now it’s 35% ceramic on the front windows.

Still struggling to get to that magic temp with the ATF. Need to put some tape over my window controls to prevent my brain from screwing this up. I already accidentally hit the button but caught it right away. Was told 3 days no window. Hope I didn’t fudge it up. Guess we’ll see! *stupid stupid brain*

We’ve gone down from 98 and rising to 88 and I’ve now upgraded to a bag over it.

    I blame December in Iowa.
