I had my Check Engine and Trac Off indicators come on while driving. I took it to autozone to get a quick diagnostic check. The code that came up was P2441 which means my Secondary Air Injection system is messing up on me. I did. Little research on this, and found out that tundras and sequoias have had this problem for a while. Toyota extended warranty for AIP for only certain years from 2008-2010. I really don’t want to pay over $2000 to have it fixed. I have read about a bypass that’s available for this. Has anyone used the Hewitt bypass for a 2013 tundra before? Would appreciate feedback. Thanks

Did you double check with a dealer that they didn’t extend the warranty to the ‘13 as well? I thought they extended all the gen 2’s but could be wrong.

as for the Hewitt setup - a coworker did it on his 2008 and it’s been working fine. I know the blank-off plate install was a bitch, but a lot less than paying to having the work done to replace everything.

I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I was on the phone with A so called Toyota “Brand Ambassador“ for about an hour asking about why the warranty doesn’t extend to anything after 2010s, and she kept on saying that not enough people have reported the problem

once I know exactly what it is tomorrow, I’m gonna see about getting the bypass. Thanks for the response

Someone on here just cleaned them as preventative with like $60 DIY parts from Oreillys... His has been fine, I've yet to do the same, but if it came down to it I'd do that first.... I would suggest you try that first, if it doesn't work you can always bypass it if your county allows that...

Do you have the link for the cleaning?

I’ve had the Hewitt on my 07 for almost 3 yrs passed 3 inspections no problems
This is very common and costly issue I say do the bypass and be done with it

@SanAntonioKid12 if you don’t have luck at the dealer and don’t want to spend $600 you can find the instructions on post #24 here to fix for $20-30... https://www.tundras.com/threads/aip-bypass-help.26552/ thanks to @koditten for sharing these instructions. I think they are based on threads from the TundraSolutions forum.

I am planning to do a write up on what I did which is a little different than these instructions.

Also, I did not install a block off plate and so far so good. Rather than a block off plate couldn’t one just plug the air tubes (who cares about the valves if they are bad and unused anyway?

I had the same issue with my SR5 4.6. Installed the Hewitt bypass module, with block off plates. The passenger side was the real pain for me. Doesn't help being only 5'5" and only using a regular ladder to work in the engine bay. I've since bought some Gorilla platforms from HD.
