    Completely stock, not for long.
I've had the same issue, where it extends the crank, went from that to misfiring, replaced battery at first, same issue, replaced spark plugs, same issue, what basically do now is turn the key to on and let it sit for about 10-15 seconds and it starts right up or else it just idles really rough, have had misfire codes, ecm codes, lost of communication with cluster. Really annoying

I think I am going to call a dealer tomorrow about this TSB. Just bought my tundra 2 months ago. It’s been great until it started getting upper 30s and low 40s over night. Now struggles to crank in the morning. What should I tell the dealer? Just tell them about a TSB for FFV tundras where it may be running too rich? I have a used 2015 btw.

I brought mine in and had the TAB done. Went on a trip from GA to VA and was great. Especially on a cool 26 degree morning. It started like a champ. I drove back home to GA and the next morning started to struggle again on cold starts. Any thoughts?

I have a 2016 FFV 5.7L V8 4x4 crewmax. I feel the need to notify the public that my car was having really really bad rough starts in the morning - didn’t matter if weather was cold or warm - first start of the day always sounded like the engine was choking. I googled online and found this site and many other message boards about the Alcohol Density Calculation problems and the need to “reflash” the ECM (see Toyota Service Bulletin T-SB-0058-13).
I took the truck in to the dealer yesterday, they did a cold start this morning after it sat in the lot overnight, and concluded it had this problem that is specific to FFV Tundra engines.
The service advisor said that Toyota just came out with a new TSB a few days ago updating the old TSB so that it now covers the fuel pump and the “reflashing” of the ECM, it now also covers all FFV Tundras from 2009 - 2019. The new TSB is T-SB-0166-19.
So I hope this info helps, hit up your dealer if you are having enginestart-up problems with your FFVengine Tundras, and pass the word around!
If I had known about these engine issues, I would have NEVER bought a FFV engine!!!

Hey Guys, I've been following this thread and 2 days ago had the Fuel pump and fuel line replaced per the Bulletin. I don't think they reflashed my computer because its still starting rough. I'd would appreciate follow up from all that had theirs reflashed and if this has lasted.

    Thanks

While they might get an email notification, the 2 people you quoted haven’t been seen since Jan 20 and Sep 19. I think BTBaker is still around. Try to PM or tag him.

Any update now that the weather has gotten colder, I just had the ECU and the TSB done and the rough start is still happening. The dealer hasn't given up but they do not seem to have any ideas

As a temporary fix. Use an OBD2 app to read alcohol content. I have Torque Pro. If it is higher than say 35-40%, I would try resetting it. For that I've used Techstream and reset the alc. density value. This always worked for me on my 2014. Note that everytime you fill up a near empty tank, the % will most likely creep up. Then just use Techstream and reset. I had the ecu reflashed and fixed this. But when I flashed a bullydog tune, it was a modified old flash, so it started doing it again. Being I had the BD on it, I just would occasionally reset the % myself. YMMV

Edit. Did it sound like this?https://photos.app.goo.gl/sWzHu75bRoapS3oT6

yes that’s exactly what it sounds like, some times it won’t turn over until after a few tries.

TSB 0166-19 is the new one and covers a replacement of the fuel pump now and is covered under warranty for 96 months or 80K miles. I had this issue a few years ago with my '14 and they reflashed it and I had no issues for a few years. Last week my truck started doing it again, and of course I'm at about 86K miles. Just heard from the dealer and it is the same issue so they are going to replace fuel pump and reflash the system per the TSB. Looking at $1500, which I challenged them a bit on, but honestly I don't have time to drop the fuel tank and don't have the know how to reflash the system. All in all though, I love my truck and If this is the only issue I have had, I can deal with that.

Thanks to target 612 and everyone else ! Finally getting my truck fixed with the new tsb 0166-19 been complaining about the smoke /
Rough start for 2 years . Now we get a fuel pump on top of it at 19000 mi on a 18 - my fifth tundra and second flex . Hopefully this fixes it . Some times I wish I kept my 2013 . Anyway if your truck smoke and runs bad at start up , make sure you press your dealer to fix . All ya need is the thing to be in limp mode when far from home . Let you if this really fixes it Thanks again everyone for bringing this out !!!

Glad I came upon this thread. I’ve had my tundra for almost 2 years now and started noticing a rough start only in the cold. Yesterday was the worst it’s been and weather was bout 17 degrees and would not turn over so I had to take my wife’s car instead. When I returned I tried starting the truck up again and this time it turned over but I had a large black cloud of smoke and smelled awful. I’ve read that could be the tsb that everyone was speaking about so I’ll call the dealer and ask. Is this covered or how much would I pay out of pocket?

You guys definitely nailed it as a FFV issue. For contrast, cold starts in my non FF 16 are non descript.
