Were you able to include any data logs of the behavior when you sent this to his Zendesk? I imagine that would truly expedite the troubleshooting process.

So that's good to know. I'll probably be unlocking 0CP50 (it's a 2019 ECU) here in a minute and starting to mess with that, since my customer has simple requests and I should be able to crank it out relatively quickly... just throttle changes, small shift map changes, and I'd like to try my hand at gearlock (but it seems the example of gearlock in the Installer folder is missing, the folder is empty?). Worst case, I'm out $75, but it'll be a learning experience haha.

Also, I get the impression from @OVTune that he's not going to be releasing "tunes" for the Tundras, just the stock files and people can edit them from scratch. If there are ANY .vft's of any tunes out there that Matt or anyone has made, I'd LOVE to study them.

Okay, quick update, just finished my first pass at a Tundra tune, using a lot of learnings from studying Mat's Tacoma 2.0 tunes, along with studying some of the collabs the guys in the Tacoma forum are doing. Will hopefully get a chance to flash this to a coworker's 2019 Tundra tmrw to get some feedback over the weekend. Tried to keep the changes minimal but meaningful to start, and I'm hoping for some marginal improvements in several areas. If it goes well, I'd love to potentially get feedback from people on here with the 0CP50 to see how it compares to @OVTune 's custom tunes, make sure I'm going in the right direction.

I think that you're the only one that's posted that they've unlocked an ECU. They just aren't available yet, meaning our personal particular IDs. That's simply what stage things are at right now. Some of us are chomping at the bit, but understand that this takes time. Keep us apprised of how your Tundra tuning experience goes, anything you've done is all new to us.

So I've only plugged in to identify two Tundras so far, one was 0CP50 which is the 2019 I played with last night, and 0CR00 which is a 2020 that isn't supported yet.

I saw the list of supported ECU IDs a few pages back, so I'm surprised so many people have trucks that aren't supported yet, seemed like a pretty long list?

I'm sure Mat @OVTune is cranking to get support out for those, I've had a great experience with him so far. I can't believe he used to do custom tunes for EVERYONE on top of adding features across all the products he has. I'm pretty sure duder has not slept in years.

One thing I found odd, though, is that in the stock tune for I was editing, the "Engine - Cruise Control Active Min Speed" was set to 180kph, which at first glance would pretty much disable cruise control almost entirely, so I set that back down 15 kph, which is what's standard for Tacomas. Unless I'm reading something wrong?

All 2018-2019 ECUS are available and ready to unlock in vF Tuner.
We have several older ECUs done (09-17s) which will be released in the next update.

Our appointment system to finish tunes in 1 day is working great! so much easier to get everyone's files knocked out in 1 round of flash, log, flash, log.

I used to custom tune hundreds of cars a month. Mentally, physically, spiritually exhausting.

Nice, I didn't realize you were still doing custom tunes for Tundras? I assumed support for that would have ended like with Tacomas?

How does that work as far as cost? I'd love to at least poke around at a custom Tundra 0CP50 vft file to see how close my values are to yours... Any way to make that happen?

What about mine? Do I still NEED to get my ECU updated? 0CP80 2019 flex. About ready to pull the trigger on a D3 branded one.

Yes, you have to get it updated or send it to us.
It's very unlikely that ANY product can flash your ECU unless it is capable of updating it at the same time.

How am I supposed to get it updated if one is not showing available for it? I thought about buying the ecu flash level of TIS and update myself but I don't want to buy it and not 100% know I would have the file available. The other company seems faithful they can flash it. Kinda like bully dog. Read ecu, send file, get file , flash. Something like that.

with our cable you can update it with techstream to 0CP81 right from home. Brick proof software, zero chance anything can go wrong.

But just know that it just gives you access to make your own tune. vF Tuner doesn't come with tunes.

I am sorry I don't know what else to tell you.

Ok. I meant any time I search for an update, I dont find one. When putting in my VIN it only shows a TSB for the turn signals. Nothing about ECU updating. I figured I could use the cable I have since I can use TIS already. Do you not offer any type of tune for the 2019's anymore?

if you have the cable, get techstream, click "health check" and it will find the update I'm sure.

No I do not offer any tunes at the moment. Our Tundra Tune pack will return once we finish up these last few. With our appointment setup it's looking like that will be done with 99% in a few days.

** Tundra tune pack will return once we finish that AND finish vF Tuner support for older ECUs, which is also almost done

Ok. I'll try that. That's good to hear because I've been wanting your custom features. I'm not looking for insane power improvements, but any bump is nice. I really want the features.

I got it installed and it went for a quick ride and everything is feeling okay but it is raining in southern California for the first time in 7 months so I'll have to wait for a dry day to really test out some full throttle action

    Thanks Mat!

We are crunching away in the back ground, prepping vF Tuner for all ECUs, and re-release of premade / tune packs is expected in january.
2020 Support expected soon too, as folks are sending us ECUs now.

I had dropped an email to @OVTune on Thursday and hadn't heard back, but I know they're super busy. I had posted on here a few weeks ago and said I'd come back and sing their praises if everything went swimmingly.
I’ve had the tune installed for several weeks now, and done a few tows with it, along with regular driving.

I’m still having challenges with the TC not locking. It never locks under 2,000 rpm when towing, except at incredibly light throttle, which I assume is some sort of self-protection feature.

In 4th, if I can get it to lock, it will stay locked until roughly 70% throttle (based on the TPS sensor readout in the OBDII), and will then unlock.

In 5th, it will unlock at any meaningful throttle application. Towing at 65 ish, probably 2200rpm, any throttle = unlock.

In 3rd, it’s hard to get it to lock at all. If I’m in S mode and select 3rd, it will stay unlocked.

As this was my primary purpose (forcing TC lockup), it's been frustrating. Gearlock works, but TC lock does not. Hopefully, there is an update that will help with this.

Give me a little time to further investigate and get it sorted out, which I will do.
It would be great to get you scheduled so we can figure it out, knock it out and finish in a day. I emailed you.
If you give us a chance to get back to you before just coming to the forum it will be easier, we are really trying to get everyone done and happy.

Once we have vf tuner, how does somebody know what “safe” air fuel ratio is? Or when knock occurs?

Mat has said that the built in air fuel ratios are not very accurate. I know a wide band could be added, and read or logged manually/separately but even with a wide band without knock data how would you know if your over the knock threshold of fuel/timing adjustments.

Is there a knock reading from the ecu that can be data logged or some other method to find the fine lean line for mpg or max Timing advance before knock?

I know the factory knock sensor and ecu will do some work to prevent damage but I would prefer the tune/adjustments to stay safe from requiring the factory knock system doing it’s thing full time! Not sure how sensitive or affective the factory knock system is?

    can’t wait for vf tuner!

Have you scheduled everyone that has responded to the appointment email? Just want to make sure I don’t slip through the cracks. Thanks
