What amp can I replace my factory amp with..

What amp can I replace my factory amp with on a non JBL unit? Something that's just plug and play?

 

This is what I used on my non jbl system. It is not plug and play. You don't need to run any extra wires including the power wires. Everything is under the passenger seat. It changed my sound substantially and I kept the stock speakers. It is small enough to slip under the oem amp without removing it.

You could piece together a system however you like. I did mine in 2 phases: 5 channel amp and sub, then component door speakers with built in crossovers.

The final phase I can opt for is upgrading the dash speakers.

I am going to recommend you contact James at tech12volts. He can narrow down a very good product based on your desired outcome and your budget. He also responds immediately to email.

I also would advise a 5 channel amp, especially after hearing the difference a sub makes in our trucks.

You do not need to run new power wires if using a smaller amp like I posted.

 

I would run a new wire from the battery. Those wires are tiny!

 

It hasn’t burned up yet. Going on 4 years.

 

full tilt, that amp is drawing about 30amps. figure out what gauge wire the factory wiring is. If its 10ga you are good.
I know on my non jbl, those wires are sooo small, maybe the jbl is beefier. I didn't want to power my jl Fix86 off the factory wiring, but i looked at the power draw, and its 1amp.

 

The only thing I said was that the oem wires were good for a small amp, obviously not gonna work for a bigger amp.

 

So you used both factory harnesses that are already under the seat and didn't need to run a new power wire or remote wire?

 

Yes, The remote and power wires are already there. I used these two harnesses.

 

This. I went with a JBL Stadium 5 because I wanted to replace all the speakers and add a sub. James @ Tech12Volts had a huge sale on these a while back; got it for something like $329 or so. The system sounds fantastic.

 

It took me about 2 hours maybe, to get all the wires ran correctly and everything bolted down.

I must admit, it took me two try's. The first time I had wires crossed and mt fade didnt work properly, so I unhooked everything and re-done it all.

I used the autoharness house kit noted above by @jeremyd and made it easy.
