When I bought my truck back in March, I applied CG Jet Seal, and then about a month later Butter Wax. I can tell now that it is not beading water like it once was. I also have a couple pin stripes to buff out. Do I decon then buff then 3 in 1? What can I use for a decon to strip everything?

    Thx

If by 'strip everything'.....you mean strip off the Butter wet Wax and Jet Seal.....at this point, a stiff breeze could strip them. Butter Wet Wax lasted about a week, maybe two. Your decon steps will remove whatever faint memory of their presence might still be lingering.

Two month update: I put this on the topsides and hull of my boat and my outboard motor. Water doesn't really bead off the topsides or motor, it falls off in sheets which is great. The hull does bead up quite a bit, but it has a coat of wax then a coat of the ceramix wax. The best part about it is that I do not have salt caking up on the areas where I used the ceramic coating. I can hose off the hull and it is salt free when its dry.

I did coat the truck for the first time this past weekend. It hasn't rained here in MD since I used the ceramic wax. Time will tell!

Ok so glad to hear the results on the hull. The water should bead on the motor and topsides depending on how you lay the water on it. If it won’t bead with any technique then it is not protected anymore. I would also highly recommend on the next application that you prep the surface so it is free from wax. Sealants should be applied first then if you want to top it then lay your wax down. Wax and saltwater environments don’t go great together but some like how wax pops so I get it.

Alright you guys convinced me. Just picked some up today. Going to try and get some protection on both our vehicles before we get hit with some snow this weekend. I’m new to all of this!! Any advice for a first time guy?

It's extremely easy to use. Just make sure the truck is completely clean. I can't imagine it's too hot in Colorado right now so you shouldn't have any issues with streaking.

Yessir. Clean and dry. Washing and drying the truck will take longer than applying Griot's in my experience. Don't overthink it and you'll be fine.

Hey guys. Can I apply the second coat if I completed the first a few days ago and the car has just been sitting in the garage? Meant to do it the next day but life happened and got busy

If the truck is still clean it should be ok. You may want to lightly dust it first so you aren't dragging dust across the surface when you apply the Griot's.

I applied Griots 9/21. Since then I've only hosed down the vehicle, not washed it. Fast forward to this past weekend and I noticed it looking like hell. We've had some leaves fall on it but I blew them off every few days.

I've never had a vehicle get this dirty in such a short period of time. I had to scrub the roof for a while to get all this off.

I'm not sure what to think.

Edit to add: I really angered some folks with this post. I wasn't trying to blame Griot's and I should have been more clear. I was merely trying to show a really odd experience.

I’m so confused by this post? Did it come clean with a wash? How exactly did you apply?

It looks like yoy haven't washed your roof in a very long time. It was definitely like that when you applied the griots and it sealed it in. There is zero chance that happened in a month. Where are the pics of the hood and sides looking that bad?

Woah. Easy boys. There is ZERO chance you are correct. My vehicle was spotless when I applied the Griots. I've been detailing cars since I was 16. I'm not as skilled as some here but I'm not an amateur.

What I didn't mention is that other panels on the vehicle were like this too, just not as bad as the roof. Like I said, I'm not sure what to think.

Don’t think we jumped to conclusions. I think you are blaming a product because of user error. It’s hard For some to take responsibility for your own actions. I would go back to the drawing board and figure out where ya went wrong. Or just go back to how you detailed cars when your where 16 and stick with that. Just my humble opinion but wtf do I know

I really don't know what to think. I really just shared because I thought it was odd. Had I known I was going to get gang raped I wouldn't have mentioned it.

We just moved here in April and we don't have a garage to park in so we park in a driveway that's partially covered by trees. Depending on where we park it has leaves fall on it and birds shit on it so I rense the vehicles every few days or whenever I see bird shit. I typically use Adam's waterless wash for the bird spots but haven't had to recently.
I agree it looks that way but it's certainly not the case. I hand waxed the vehicle in May and I've hand washed it once or twice a month since then. I applied Griots 1 month ago and it didn't start looking like this until the past weekend.

Its mildew, it was trapped under the sealant seeing that it was so hard to remove. Something was up before you applied it.

Please tell me where I blamed the product. I literally said I wasn't sure what to think. I have waxed a vehicle probably 100 times in my life and never seen anything like this. I've never used a product like Griots so it's entirely possible I did something wrong but I can tell you the vehicle looked great the day I finished.

Here is a picture I took after I finished. Edit, to be clear, this is the pic I took 9/21. Not today.

Maybe so. It does look like mildew. What could I have done differently? I believe someone asked earlier in this thread if it was necessary to clay first and it was determined that it wasn't. After I washed it today I reapplied Griots to the roof since it was the worst. Think it should wash and clay it to be sure I get it all? Then reapply Griots?

I'm sure it will be fine. Everyone else has great results with it and it looks like you park in a garage. Whatever happened to mine is not normal.
