Sounds about right if the truck is really wet. I have 4 of them. I usually take the truck for a quick ride just to get most the water off then it only takes one towel to finish the job.

 

The large PFM?

 

I generally use 1 large and 1-2 small ones to dry mine (once they're full, I don't wring them out - just put them aside). One other thing to consider is using the hose with no nozzle on it to run water over the surface rather than just the spray nozzle as a final rinse step. You'll find that less water remains, so there's less to have to dry.

Ya I skipped that step, it gets dark too damn early now so I was rushing at the end.

 

Have not had that issue with the large PFM. Water is not prone to staying on my truck after a wash, however.....so maybe my situation may not be typical.

 

Whats the difference btwn Best of show spray wax vs their regular spray-on wax? Marketing?

A few thoughts...

1) do you wash your microfiber towels separate? (you should)
2) did you use fabric softener? (you shouldn't)
3) did you put the dryer on high? (you shouldn't)

Sometimes with the Tundra it does get full of water. Sometimes I use another towel to get the water that is puddling on the truck/car off. Then get the truck bone dry with the Griot's.

 

Typically wash all MF rags and towels together. No fabric softener, tumble dry low. I think I just left the truck too wet with a final rinse down before drying. Either way, I now have an ‘excuse’ to buy more stuff

 

To the best of my knowledge...the original spray wax is carnuba only...the best of show spray wax contains polymers as well

 

The Griots original spray use after rinse and dry with towel as your drying the car. And Best of Show you use when dry wipe down/buff as normal wax, correct?

 

To the detailing gurus: I'm low on CarPro Eraser and need to reup. Obviously I can make my own IPA 50/50 solution but looking more into it, it appears these products have other ingredients meant for cleaning (ex. CarPro Eraser freely admits they put an ingredient in to limit dust accumulation, which is supposed to be used before applying a CP Ceramic).

My question: has anybody tested any other IPA wipedown products and what your preferences may be? The businessman in me says make my own IPA wipe down to save on cost. But the other products (looking at Meguiar's Surface Prep, $5 cheaper by the gallon, and on sale 20% off at Autoality today) are catching my eye.

 

I like Gyeon Prep. Good stuff. But cost wise make your own imo is the way to go.

 

I'm far from a guru.....but I have to confess I've never used anything but Eraser.....if it ain't broke, I don't fix it

 

I’ve used Eraser and Shine Supply Throwback. Couldn’t tell any difference.

Troof, but I've gone through 3 gallons this year and the cost adds up fast if you're using it frequently.

 

I picked up a gallon of Meg's Surface Prep for about $15 cheaper than Eraser because of a sale going on. Will let folks know. I'm poor.

 

You're never truly poor as long as you own a Tundra

 

I have always like the aerosol Sprayway it’s cheap and easy

 

I really like the black fire window cleaner. It’s just expensive. I also use carpro clarify which is also very good.

 

Sprayway....I typically get from Walmart for less then $5 a can.

 

Whats the best soap for the foam cannon but that is not crazy expensive?

 

That’s what I use.

 

Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam.

 

Lots of them.....as previously mentioned.....CG Honeydew snow foam is a very good one, as is P&S Pearl Shampoo, Jay Lenos Vehicle Wash, Meguiars HyperWash, and MTM Perfoamance Soap.
