I bought the car at 36 so my true "idiot behind the wheel" days were behind me. For the most part I'm a tame driver, even when i was in the mustang. I enjoyed the exhaust more than anything because it was badass and wasn't illegal to enjoy.

But...I had rules about when, where, and what was in front of, behind, and on the opposite side of the interstate when I pushed the speed. No one in sight anywhere on the interstate. Clear weather. Warm tires.. No wind. No curves. I never broke my rules. On 2 lane roads it was the same but I also didn't do it if there were any houses along the road. I was very careful.

There's a section of I-64 on my commute where it's common to see no one around. That's the speed spot. No one was at risk but me.

You also have to keep in mind that the modern pony cars are light years ahead of their predecessors. They are literally built to be driven hard and fast. If you haven't driven a modern sportscar you're in for a real treat. I'm excited for you...lol

That s an interesting point. No fun in having big muscle, and not flexing it once in a while. Under the right circumstances, ie; a track, or desolate road, why not? but I think it all comes down common sense choises. Unfortunately some learn by their mistakes, and on the road those mistakes can lead to death.

This is the standard tranny in the 2020 camaro. They have been around for a while. It came in the 07 vette.

Edit: I should read a little more closely. The tranny in that link is actually an after market version of the MN6 Tremic 6 speed.
    This is correct one.

While test driving the 1SS few days ago I noticed the rear view mirror was actually a video feed of a rear mounted camera. It showed a wide angle view of what was behind me. It was actually bad ass. I think it s part of the technology package.

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
    Rex,
One of my Mustang buddy’s came by in his 2012 GT Shelby today to give me a ride, it’s a stick.
The other Camero owners have manual Transmissions also, one with the ZL1/w 1LE package has upgraded to 3 driving modes, one being track mode 650 RHP
8/ 10 speed automatic transmission I believe is the counter part to the manual trans.
Anyway here’s the Mustang motor that came on at 3000 -6000 rpm range, and the sounds it made.

Im thinking that with an active rev matching transmission drifting is out of the question:monocle:

I don t think dealerships like to do factory orders. Has anyone done this? I m not having luck with these jokers. They keep putting me off, and coming up with excuses why it s not moving forward.

With Chevy, it seems to depend on the dealer, from what I've heard.

It s been a few weeks since I started thinking about buying one. After finding out more info about the Camaro I still want a new one, so I m going for a 2021. I know premium gas is a given, but I can live with that. Selling my Tundra is kind of hard, but I was fine before I owned a toyota, and will be fine after the fact.

I didn't realise you were selling your Tundra to buy the Camaro. Do you have any other vehicles?

No. Tundra is all I have. Im ready for a change though. I really don t need a 4x4 truck, and it barely fits in my parking spot. Leaving and parking is a pain in the ass everyday. I want a smaller vehicle, and better gas milage. Even a 450hp muscle car will get up to 20mpg on the highway. My truck, as it is, gets 10 or 11.

If I were in your shoes, I might go with a Toyota 86. I like GM but I'm not sure I'd trust a new one as my only vehicle.

I appreciate that, but I look forward to the change. One can only take so much dependability, and peace of mind.

I had an 89 Trans Am GTA and an 89 Mustang GT . The Trans Am never got driven in the winter but the Mustang was driven year round . I put a set of winter wheels and tires on it and treated it with the respect that a light car with power on slippery surfaces demanded and never had an issue with it at all . Both of those cars only ever required basic maintenance for the entire time I owned them ( 12 years ) . Everything can be reliable as long as you take care of it .

I like the Camaro’s but I don’t know if I’d have one as my one and only vehicle. I’ve had a low slung “performance” vehicle as my only means of transportation and it got old quick. If I wanted only one fun car I’d look into one of those high powered SUV’s, like a Durango SRT.

I agree. I ve owned many cars before my tundra. A few fast powerful ones, and plenty of beaters. The one thing in common with them all is if you drive right and are prepared, it usually goes well. Ice would be my only real problem where I live, and my tundra would need the same thing as any car if I wanted to navigate on it. The only advantage is the 4x4, and the 2 winters I ve drove it I rarely used it.

No way I would DD my Camaro or Challenger where I live. Winters can be challenging enough even with 4 wheel drive! No interest in sliding into....whatever.....lol

Or the stupid brine that gets sprayed on the roads......Yeah it works great at melting snow/ice on roads - but after enough winters of that, you'll be calling your car "Rusty but trusty". But my disclaimer - I'm not familiar with how bad winters are in your area.....

Mild winters here. Once in a while it snows, and sticks for a week or two. It gets icy off and on, but far from regularly. Some winters I encounter no ice at all. Rain is the norm here.

I need to sell my truck first. Dealer quoted me 12k, but it s worth a hell of a lot than that, so I m selling it myself. Then there s the wait for the factory to build it. It will happen though.
