Sound deadening my 18' Tundra Crewmax Cab EVERYWHERE. need to do

I'm sound deadening the floor and the head liner soon and hoping maybe anyone here can pitch any advices on how to do it. I did my door panels and need to do the rest. Any advice or tricks to get the headliner and floor liner is greatly appreciated!

 

I sound deadened the floor in my 2018 CM. Doing the ceiling seemed to invasive to me at the time and I knew it really wouldn't help much with the audio sound much, so declined to do it. Regarding the floor, however, remove all seats, remove center console, remove carpet, remove rear foam blocks, in that order. No tricks that I know of. Just removing shit, laying deadener down, and rolling it out. To be perfectly honest, doing the entire floor is a bit overkill for audio. Most important are all 4 doors, rear wall and floor area behind rear seat (in case you are installing a sub box). I can understand doing the roof IF, you are trying to help insulate against heat, but do not think sound deadener is a good insulator for that purpose.

Did my whole truck a while back. Headliner was def worth it. Take your time but it’s pretty straight forward. Hardest part was that fold down handle above the passenger window. The cap for the connector slides laterally it doesn’t pop open toward you when your looking at it. Other than that it was straight forward.

 

Just lined part of the floor from the back moving to the front. Doing the front and and firewall next and hoping for the best. Is it just heat that it insulates or also the cold?

 

Well, I live in Texas. So cold is never really an issue. Regardless, I do not think sound deadened is a good insulator for heat and/or cold. But, if that is what you are looking for, there are other alternatives as I have seen it discussed here on tundras.com.

 

Correct, if you look at the post I linked above you’ll see an additional product that is a heat/cold barrier. I love it and it also helps deaden additional sound.

 

Great! Two in one is little better. I was hoping to do something like that and maybe insulate the doors as well while I’m at it. Anything worth sound deadening on the outside?

 

Eh not really IMO. I love the sound of my engine and exhaust but I believe you can deaden the hood underneath the firewall mat with most products if wanted.

 

I can still hear most of my engine and the road. I like to hear my engine and exhaust when I got my windows rolled down but when the windows are up it’s really for my tunes. Other than that, I’ll take that into consideration once I change my exhaust later down the road. I hear some people recommended doing the wheel well but don’t know how reliable the adhesive will still if I ad it on there.

 

The product I used had a specification and said where you could use it. It said indoor use and under hood. I’m sure you could verify when the time comes!

 

For sound deadening I rap the area with my knuckle. If it has a hollow reverb type of sound I apply it. Usually large flat areas could use a strip or 2 to stiffen it up Places where there are bends in the sheetmetal are usually ok; sometimes not though.
