Do you think my theory is right? Most likely from the brake controller under my dash? If not, what else would they be for?

 

Could be, only real way to tell would be to trace the wires or disconnect and see if anything stops working.

 

You and me both. The last few weeks have been utter shit. Just this weekend alone, put in a straight 15 hours Saturday, and another 10 today. Not supposed to work weekends, but some emergency crap came up for someone that's out on vacation, and the guy on vacation isn't around to give me the right stuff to make things a 4-6 hour job instead of 24-26 hour job. Ugh.

I've had my replacement leather-wrapped OEM steering wheel and right-hand controls for weeks and haven't had a spare hour or two for install.

 

Low voltage breakers. You know where one end goes, where does the other go? Likely culprit could be brake controller, you wouldn't want something like that to be a fusible link, eh? This type of breaker self-resets instead of blowing. If you arc one out, it'll click rhythmically. as the circuit opens and closes.

 

Cost to install at dealership 1,000,000 dollars

I didn't realize how beefy these brakes are. Most cars have a single piston, the later model year 1st gens come with 4-piston calipers.




No wonder all those Taco guys are upgrading their trucks with Tundra brakes!

 

toyotas used 4 piston calipers on 4x4 pickups, 4runners, tacomas and tundras since the first IFS pickups. so 86? maybe even older. might of been since 79, the tundra brakes are just larger than the taco brakes

 

Ahhh, I stand corrected. I'm pleasantly surprised to see the 4-piston caliper design on our trucks. Even standard calipers on most M model Bimmers are single piston.

IIRC, were you looking to upgrade your Tundra brakes to 4Runner calipers and rotors?

 

I plan on doing the newer 4runner calipers when I go to 17” wheels yes.

I just have Napa ones for a trd offroad. No complaints. Limits flex a bit but meh.

I used these, the nut is a little wonky to tighten, but worked fine.

 

I was saying to myself... self: why does @empty_lord need a switch that doesn't fit on our 1st gens? After driving to pick up dinner, I saw that the switch buttons seem to be identical. Ripe for disassembly and Frankenstein over to a 1st gen switch.

Double cab has different switches than mine too. This is a direct fit. All I have to do is run the illumination wire

I asked seller for more info, and of course what we all want... more pics! Alas, he said it was gone in 60 seconds, er... 2 hours.

 

Alright folks its time to play what order do I work in now. Had a mechanic replace my fuel tank 2 months ago during which time my check engine light was already on. I installed bypass kit for the SAIS which cleared one of them. I replaced the PCV valve and the purge valve located under the hood. I'm still getting P0441 and P0445 for large leak and small leak/incorrect purge. I know there is another vent solenoid for about 60$ from parts geek. But because I don't know which came first the error code or the new gas tank there is 4 more possibilities under there. Vent solenoid, charcoal canister leak, incorrectly loosely connected hoses to the newly installed gas tank, or even a leak in the tank itself as it was a used fuel tank. Would you drop everything back out a check the shitty mechanics work,inspect and reline the used gas tank, check all the hoses, and test the vapor canister for leaks and be really complete... or work backword...buy the vent solenoid and check the vapor canister first before dropping out the tank. Im already way past the point of hoping this would be an easy fix like a new gas cap because yes of course I did that already.

When dealing with EVAP stuff, you're basically just throwing parts at the problem unless you have some way to monitor pressure readings from the sensors via ODBII. You really need to know (at minimum) whether there is/isn't vacuum in the fuel system first and foremost, then need to know if all sensors are reading, and reporting back valid ranges.

I've never seen anyone discuss the oil pumps on our trucks. Anyone ever seen one fail on the 4.7?
