    New shoes! KMC KM717 17x8.5 18mm offset and BFG AT KO2 35x12.5R17.

    I am absolutely in love.

I really liked the Falkens, had them on my Dodge too. However, it's INSANE how much quieter the BFG's are.

There's a bit of a shake over 70mph, I may have my alignment checked since my offset has changed.

Oh, also installed the front hitch receiver today.

Looks like your battery needs a replacement soon. I've heard a lot of the stock batteries had been leaking a lot.

Replaced the 50W solar panel with a 100W panel. Fits perfectly and is black so it’s less noticeable.

How do you like the ARB bumper? I keep eyeballing them but that’s a lot of cheddar to plunk down without doing proper research and such.

Paint looks good! Let us know how it holds up, hoping yours works out better than when I did mine. I did the same thing but with VHT primer and VHT black (wire wheeled rust spots on welds, then scotch bright whole thing, and finally an alcohol wipe down before primer). I didn't wait so long between coats though. I think I did 3 coats (used whole can) and waited however long the can said between. It started flaking off in less than 6 months, it might be from all the road salt here though. I've thought about getting it cerakoted, but not sure it's worth the money, or if it'd last long :notsure:.

Well worth the money. The quality makes other bumpers I've seen in person look home-made. This thing is borderline aircraft quality. I believe it's the only bumper certified to be compatible with airbag systems. It has a crumple zone so a fender bender won't shoot the airbags off on ya.

I love the coverage it provides and it's compatibility with safety equipment, but I can't bring myself to consider the ARB because of the cutting involved. I know that I'd mess it up. That, and it just sticks out too far up front for me. Your truck makes it look good, though.

THx. I waited 24 hours as per instructions. Will try to remember to update on how it’s holding up next year.

If it helps your decision, I can help you with the trimming. You being in WY and me being in MT... Not too far of a drive for us!

Yep, although all the cutting is plastic bits. You need to trim the grille surround and the lower plastic pieces forward of the quarter panels.

In prepping the back of the rig for camping, I wanted switchable power for the fridge, phone charging, LED lights - whatnot.

In the past, I've used a similar setup and mounted in my Tacoma bed in the right side cubby cover. After scratching my head and debating between drilling holes in the new truck or making an enclosure - I opted to do some woodworking.

    Original idea for placement

    IMG_20200828_175246.jpg

Make a box (1/2" baltic birch). Quick cuts of existing scrap on the table saw, opening cuts on the drill press and router table, assemble with glue / pins, quick belt sand and finish with spray prime and spray trim black.

    IMG_20200828_170426.jpg

Wire it up and did a little shrink wrap on the wires to keep it tidy. I opted to leave the back open as the mounting spot had limited space.

    IMG_20200828_175206.jpg

Affix with velcro on the canopy rail - it's not going anywhere.

    IMG_20200828_175350.jpg

    Tomorrow's task - run power.

Might be a dumb question, do you know where the the airbag sensors are? I've take the stock bumper off to put caps on them, and now thinking about it don't remember removing anything sensor wise (and never thought about it at the time).
The stuff you used might just be that much better!

All that work and mutilation of your truck that i imagine produces nothing more then just some extra noise. The stock air box has been proven to perform very well as designed. Never blindly trust a vid on YouTube, especially when the comments are turned off. Just my 2 cents of course. :eek2:

I wanna do something similar and was going to drill like you were. This is a meat idea. Are you running power to a secondary battery?

I'm not running a second battery and everything is wired off the main truck battery.

When I go camping, I've got a Renogy Monocrystalline 100W solar panel connected to the main battery via a Renogy Wanderer 30A PWM Charge Controller. With a bit of cable, I can move / position the panel to catch the best sunlight. My fridge is pretty efficient and has a cut-off to prevent it from fully draining my battery. To make sure I can still start the truck after I'm finished camping, I keep a NOCO Boost Plus GB40 in the center console. It's always plugged in to the 12v outlet in the console making sure the NOCO is always fully charged.

Little bit of belt and suspenders, but having a second battery is mucho dinero and is probably overkill for my needs. When my OEM battery gives up, I'll most likely replace it with the biggest Northstar AGM I can squeeze in there.

Its actually not a bad idea. One hole bringing air in from the fender is good, wouldn’t a second hole only be better at providing more “cold air” for the engine.

I am not doing this mod, cause I don't want to cut a new hole in the new truck.

Not sure that'd be the case. Having a twin tip on your exhaust doesn't let out any more exhaust than a single tip because you are still working with a single pipe. 1, 2, or 10 holes, you are still restricted by what the filter and the intake pipe allow.
I could be wrong, but this is just how my brain is seeing it.

Agree, but maybe the air filter and tube could be pulling in more air if there were more available
