Wouldn't be hard to make. Some 2" flat stock aluminum, cut, bend, and drill a few holes.

 

@FirstGenVol 3mpg is pretty drastic, was he running with flat tires lol. I would be willing to bet you would get more wind noise than mpg loss. I'd say get 1x1 square Alu tubing and make feet to raise it up about 1". Cut 45° angles on both sides of the feet so you have easy access to the mounting bolts head. It looks good you just have to upgrade hardwear to stainless and get that diamond plate on the bottom of the rack to up the load capacity. If you make er look good I'll get one too

 

Yeah I just spoke to a few people and they didn't notice any MPG dip. I think I'll give the basket a shot. Might as well try it.

 

@FirstGenVol you should think about making some kind of wind fairing, unless I didn’t see it, you will get a mpg loss.......but the fairing might help with wind noise and some mpg action. I have a roof rack on the 4runner......I know things.

It came with a fairing but the mounting bolts are too short. I'll have to run out and get better hardware.

 

Also, there is a dealer, Raingler nets, that is top knotch, if you end up liking it and want some better options for securing stuff, they make bad ass cargo webbing for roof racks, and all kinds of other cool stuff to actually. You can customize any way you want, and great customer service

Since I pulled my cluster out, I've been curious about something.

To satisfy my curiosity I'm gonna ask you all:

The experts.​

I noticed my cluster has a spot for a low washer fluid level light. Recently, I ran out of fluid. I found out because she quit squirting.

The light has never worked for me.

How hard would it be to add the parts needed to make the loght come on as needed?

My gut instinct says that it would be to replace the washer fluid reservoir with one that has a float sensor in it.

I'm not sure, and am mainly curious.

What do you all think?

 

Check your little sensor thingy on the rez first before reinventing the wheel. Meter test, check connection, wires, etc. Report back!

 

I just assumed I didn't have it. Will consult FSM, and then tinker.

 

Okay, after a wheel well liner mangling that even @bmf4069 would be proud of I've determined I have a washer pump. Lol


Before I realized it was the washer pump I checked the wiring harness after I got the brown recluse to leave... it read zero volts which puzzled me then I saw the washer hose.

If I've got a "float sensor" than its in the front where I can't see.

Can't even see it with the bumper removed. Hmm.

FSM was little help...


My washer motor is in the rear of the reservoir. According to those two documents they are one, and the same. The connector on the pump has 2 pins, and the wiring connector has a possible 3.

Guessing that 3rd pin is the sensor wire.

Hit pay dirt, but now where is it... if I've got it...

 

Wonder if it's possible it's using the liquid in the tank as the conduit or the float is internal to the pump. The latter would be more typical.

Anyway, drain the fluid, siphon it. See if the light in the dash lights up. It's way easier than dicking around with a DMM man!

I'm thinking its a different sensor instead of internal on the pump. I'm no expert, and might be wrong.

It looks different to me, maybe I'm just tired..

I would have to agree, draining it bone dry would be easier than a DMM. I ran it until the pump couldn't pump anymore with no light sometime last week. Then again, I'm not even sure I had a bulb in.

May have to tinker with that this weekend.
