They might not make it in time for our trip, but it will be good to have a baseline for comparison.

PM me if would like a few pointers on the install.

You might want to get them on before the trip. They are quite simple and quick to install.

Love it so far. Not perfect, but tows great, really comfortable and functional, and I think it looks pretty good.

I use to have a Jayco Skylark that had the same windows the Lance has. Double pane, tinted and hinged at the top with built in screens and blinds. No condensation on cold days with a good R value.

Any concerns with towing this set up with a 2017 DC SR5 5.7 w Tow pkg.? I currently tow a TT with about the same specs. Just wanted to double check with a few Tundra experts. Thank you in advance for your replies!

I have used the Fires stone air bags in the past on my Tacoma. I am thinking on using the Sumo Springs on my new Tundra. I do have a question that maybe you could answer. When the sumo springs are mounted to the frame of the truck, do they hang over the axle or the leaf springs. Any chance you would have a pic.

    Thanks

im pretty sure they mount to the leaf spring and impact the bump stop pad on the frame rail. Im hoping to install mine tomorrow afternoon

You would be correct. I found some you tube videos on the installation and they do in fact are mounted to the leaf springs. I think I will install the airbag system instead.

The Sumosprings replace the bump stops and are secured using the U bolts that hold the axle and leaf spring together.

When you install if your not a huge guy you can do the install without removing the tires or lifting the truck. Make sure the parking brake is on and the truck is on level ground. Spray penatraring fluid on the threaded part of the U bolts. Unbolt the U bolts one side at a time. Remove the plate at the bottom and slide the U bolts up to allow removal of the factory bump stop. Give the top of the spring a wipe with a rag to make sure it's free of sand and dirt. Insert the Sumospring and reinstall the U bolts and torque to spec. Make sure the U bolts are securing the Sumospring at the top and are straight vertically as you tighten the U bolts. You should have the same amount of bolt protruding from the nuts after you tighten the U bolts. Some say that you should replace the U bolts after removal but I've personally haven't seen a problem with reusing them if the U bolts are in good shape. Make sure to wire bush any corrosion and inspect the threads for damage.

Thanks for all the info and the pic. It looks like their is minimal to no gap between the frame and the spring. This is a good sign. I have used Timbran's in the past and when you go over a bump the Timbran slaps the frame and gives the truck a hard ride. What I see on your truck doesn't look too bad. Is their any weight on the rear of the truck with these pics

There is only a very slight gap. The truck has no weight in the back except for a hard tonneau cover that's about 60lbs and a rubber bed mat. The top portion of the Sumo is fairly soft and I didnt really notice much of a ride change.

If you were going to exclusively use your Tundra to pull a 7500lb gross travel trailer which Sumos would you go with?

In S4 towing our tt weighing roughly 4600lb. From E WA through pan handle of ID to Yellowstone so lots of climbs. Steep climbs would go to 255 but come back down to 215ish.

I’m doing a similar route right now. Went from western Washington to Missoula today, heading to west Yellowstone tomorrow. I pinned open the transmission cooler before I left, first time trying it. I’m running about 20 degrees cooler than my last trip, worst has been 225 in S4/S3 for far and mostly around 190. Pulling about 7,500# right now too.

So, this IS NOT the goal, right? :)

It is a 2500...the trailer was twice as long as you can see, and it had four more tanks of something on the back!
