    I just spoke to my
Local toyota ship, estimated $700-900 with parts and labor. But the cooler will void warranty, so not for
Me maybe until warranty ends or heck a F250 gas will fix it.

A cooler will not void your warranty unless it is the direct cause of a failure.

Or take it off before you take your truck in. More work but piece of mind. I bet most dealers won’t even notice its there since some have said they called the dealer about it s removal and they didn’t know it was removed.

Can't tell you who I spoke with but I assure you this person knows.

Change in condenser cooling: "The change to R1234yf is a government mandate and the compressor and condenser were changed to meet the new refrigerant. With that said, we have the same standards/cooling requirements for ATF with or without cooler. We have margin to our standards and the Powertrain calibration change reduced busy shift and temperatures. So the cooler was not providing the benefit and created other issues, thus we removed it."

Adding a hayden external cooler with OEM thermostat: "What you will see is that the AT temp will drop around 10-12 degrees but the engine temp will rise 5-10 degrees. This is the trade off. Engine performance will be reduced due to higher block temp. The changed in the the engine calibration and shift mapping to improve performance and busy shift for 19 & 20 MY. This reduced trans temp and eliminated the trans cooler need. The trans cooler elimination reduced engine temp which improves thermo cycle efficiency. As is said earlier, I wish I share data but this is our IP.

    Japanese, perhaps?

Not Japanese. The one person who designed the truck.

You mean to tell me they did proper research and engineering instead of just ripping to cooler out and going with "well it should still be good". I'm shocked I tell you, shocked.

I didn't change his response because I wanted it to be what he actually provided. I am still adding the OEM thermostat, OEM hard lines and Hayden 778. BG Products also makes a plate to exchange fluid on 19 and 20s. You pull off the warmer and add the plate that has two nipples that line up with the two holes in the trans to exchange. I will post a pic when I get to my phone.

I wondering why he thinks the aux cooler would raise engine temps and reduce performance.

I'm not an engineer, but my guess is the external cooler would mount in front of the radiator, and extra heat coming from trans cooler through radiator would reduce the engine cooling efficiency of the radiator by enough to see a 5 - 10° temp increase in the engine?

Trans coolers have been placed in front of radiators for decades. It doesn’t cover much of it at all

My trans temps didn't drop 10 degrees they dropped 30-40. Also my engine temps never changed.

That heat from the transmission has to go somewhere and using the puck dumps it directly into the cooling system. Since installing my aux cooler I haven't seen any rise in the engine operating temperature.

I had an 08 with the cooler and towed 6000lb trailer with it for 7 yrs, had around 120,000 miles when I traded and the trans was still smooth as could be.

My Hayden cooler reduced pan temps 30F, much more than 10F.
How does the transmission temperature being Lower affect the engine temperature Controlled by the thermostat?

My engine temperature before and after adding the cooler was 196-198F no change. Same 80-85F ambient temps.

My 2010 DC ran around 200 pan temp, my 2020 CM runs 217F no load summer ambient temps in the 80s. How is that the same or cooler?

I’m sharing my data, funny they won’t share theirs (whoever that is).

Magnuson-Moss act. Google it! They would have to directly prove that the part that you installed caused the failure

    Help me out, plz.

Let's say a person, SexyTundraGal, has a 2019 TRD PRO, in blue, and adds a ATF cooler. SexyTundraGal's transmission smokes a clutch pack at 25K miles. SexyTundraGal tows her truckee to the dealer for a warranty claim.

SexyTundraGal: mah truckee broke after I dropped of one of mah boyfriends. Tranny let go and I gots all the warning lights on mah instreement clusters!

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: Not a problem, miss. You're still within your warranty period and we take care of everything.

SexyTundraGal: my period?! We ain't got time fer that sh*t! Mah truckee is broken! Besides, my period dont come fer another 2 weeks (wink wink).

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: no, miss... we were referring to the time component of your warranty. And we think you are quite fetching.

*transmission tech completes diagnostic and begins removal of defective transmission... discovers addition of external supplemental heat exchanger. service manager calls Tyota and describes their findings. Tyota disqualifies the claim.

SexyTundraGal: got mah truckee done yet?

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: ah, yes... aboot that (he's canadian). We found an unsupported element in the hydraulic circuit of your transmission. Tyota denied your warranty claim.

SexyTundraGal: I'm sorry, I believe I have something crazy in my ear. Come again?

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: they sez "hell naw!" You or somebody else altered the system. No dice.

SexyTundraGal: thought you might say that. (she puts on a fancy robe and hat you would find on a wizard) she raises her supple arms with a flourish and cries, "I summon all my mana and cast Magnuson-Moss, level 4!!"

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: (startled and bewildered, looks around) what are you going on aboot? (canadian)

SexyTundraGal: you hafta prove my Hayden caused that clutch pack to burn up! FIX TEH TRANNY, PLZ!!

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: I say you they sez nuh-uh.

    SexyTundraGal: You fix! NOW!!

FriendlyNeighborhoodTyotaService: Absolutely, miss! Remit all teh moneys, plz. We fix.

Okay. How does this story finish? Yinz guys help, plz.

I heard they changed the engine calibration and shift mapping to improve performance, thus there is no need for a cooler.

That’s a really good story and link. A good point to remember: big corporations (like Toyota) Have an army of lawyers on staff that do this for a living. If want to spend the time and money battling in court that’s up to you.
