You have your A/T temp in F and your outside temp in C. You Canadians are silly.

Either way I like the gauge. Does that integrate with an OBDII controller?

Yeah, it was $7500.00. Got raked over the fuckin coals. I'm sure I could've shopped around for a cheaper one, but they had my truck for over a week and I just wanted it done.

Something just occurred to me: if Toyota put gauges on the dash for tc & pan temp and rigged them so they would never go over say 225, this thread would not exist and everyone would be happy! No wait.... my bad. That’s what Ford would do.

when i drive from work and back the temp guage is almost in the middle and when i put the hammer down it goes up but back down when i cruise. I'm not going to worry about it until it breaks. if that means a new Tranny then so be it, but yea its a Toyota its built to last. and you would think that with how big and how old the tundra is they would have a reason or some type of advanced technology to keep the trans temp down with the coolant they have for the engine. like i stated before i don't tow (yet) but ill worry about it when it comes to that time.

Yep ford does that with their oil pressure gauges .. it's a on/off pressure switch . Built to always read just over the 1/2 mark lol

It's hard wired to a sensor I Installed into the side of the trans pan . I wanted a real accurate reading of the pan temps . The autometer gauge reads about 5 degrees cooler than the sensor that you guys read with the obd dongles . My thought is that is because the sensor is located within the valve body and there is more heat at that location. IMG_20200701_170926.jpg

Me too. I had an inferno 2018 that was the best looking truck I’ve ever had. Could not stand to drive it. One day I was headed to Valdosta to go to Best Buy and buy a tv. Taco had to downshift to 3RD to get up a moderate hill. Went to the Toyota dealership instead and traded it in on a Pro Tundra. Best decision I’ve ever made vehicle wise.

My brain just can't quantify it with out a conversion. I hear 30* Celsius and I have no idea what that equates to.

Alright, so I had to tow around 8k pounds today for 45 miles on relatively flat highway. About 30 of those miles at 70mph in S-5 (always using t/h). Temps shown below are while cruising at 70 for 20 miles or so, but they really didn’t get much warmer than this. Over the whole trip I never got over 230. I feel confident that I could’ve driven 450 miles without getting much warmer than this.

I’m kind of confused that they didn’t get hotter because as stated earlier in the thread, I had the temp warning come on when towing a couple thousand pounds less in similar conditions a year ago (was more wind resistance being an enclosed trailer). I also saw 235 when towing a much smaller trailer unloaded a couple weeks ago in similar conditions.

Wind resistance is a huge factor.

Are you asking if the sc has an intercooler? If so, yes it does.

I don’t have an external trans cooler if that’s what you’re asking.

For sure, but doesn’t explain the temps I saw a couple weeks ago or hitting the temp warning which is supposedly 70 degrees more than I saw today.

Yeah, someone mentioned on here that Toyota said there may be faulty sensors. Maybe that explains the one time I got high temp and then the sensor “fixed itself”. At the time, I wasn’t set up to monitor actual temps so who knows.

One thing is for sure though... Without the external cooler, the trans temps are all over the place. Captain Obvious here.

How did you get your gauges to display on your radio? I have a kenwood unit similar to that one

did you call toyota corporate and ask what the fluid temps are supposed to be? You feel like they are too high compared to another other truck on the road or a 2018 tundra

Not sure what that is, I'll look it up, I have and obdII reader that's plugged in my port, and I read the temps through torque pro, but I'd like the option to read it on my radio instead. I think my radio is a kenwood AVIC 9xxx

I actually did the first several miles in S4. The temps didn’t rise any when I went to S5. Could be the supercharger effect though.

Do your steering wheel controls work for your radio? Volume, seek, etc.
