For some reason Toyota decided to change the plug and location so i thought I would share some info for anyone trying to hook up a brake controller to a 2015 tundra.
Step 1: remove the 10mm. Bolt under dashbelow tpms reset button

Step 2: pull lower lash pannel out carefully

Step 3: carefully pull out the pannel with traction control button and tow haul button

Step 4: the white plug is located behind this pannel. Plug in brake controller and replace dash pannels, and install brake controller and be sure to clear the knee airbag

Btw it takes a different plug than previous years and they don't come with the trucks anymore

Its not available from Toyota yet, bummer. I have a 14 so it wont work on mine anyways. I bought a Prodigy P3 and also bought the 15 dash panel for the controller. I had a trim plate cut out and I mounted the controller in there. It is so much safer than mounting it at the bottom of the dash. What people do not realize is that there is an air bag there for the knees. If you are in an accident and that air bag is deployed, the controller is going to be part of your shins. Here is what I have:

Thanks for the pics. That looks great! Do you have any idea when the OEM one will be available? And what is different between the 14 and 15? Sorry new to Toyota.

The 2014 has the plug in the driver side kick panel. The 2015 has a different plug to the right of the steering wheel behind the panel with the trac off button. The 15 also will have the info screen in the center of the dash letting you know the trailer brake info. Should be pretty slick, but not sure when it will be out.

So I am a new truck owner and have yet to ever haul anything. What is the purpose of this controller, how does it work, what situations warrant this need? Is it above and beyond what the "tow haul" button does?

    Thanks in Advance!

It adjusts/controls the trailer brakes, when set up properly the trailer will slow down at the same rate as your truck. The controller sends the signal to the ttailer to activate the brakes, and how much. Some controllers also have a feature in which you can manually activate the trailer brakes to "cut the slack" and reduce sway.

Not all trailers have brakes, usually only bigger trailers or trailers meant to haul heavy loads.

    Yes, what MotoTundra said.
Typically states will have a law that says trailers under 2000lbs or so do not require their own brakes whereas those of higher capacity require their own brakes. This is for the safety of the vehicle and those around you. Brakes on a truck are designed to stop more than just the trucks weight, but not all that much more. If you tow more than 2000lbs you need assistance of brakes on the trailer to stop in a safe distance and time. As they sit, most trucks do not have a factory brake controller, though they have become more commonplace in the last 5 years or so on the HD and now 1/2 ton trucks. The Tundra has been one of the very last to adopt a factory trailer brake control/trailer sway control system. Its about time. Kind of disappointed they didnt introduce it in '14 with the redesign, but would just happen to be my luck they're adding a factory option on the 15's.

Edit- controller is for electric brakes, usually rental trailers and boat trailers have a 'surge' brake system that applies brakes as the trailer tries to push the tow vehicle. They do this because not every vehicle has a controller as you can see, and on a boat trailer electric brakes dont like being submerged plus the loaded/unloaded weight of the trailer varies a lot.

Unfortunately not for the 14. They changed the configuration for the 15 model. I am one of those people that wants things to look as factory as possible.

Hello, I found a nice panel to use to install a brake controller under the tow/haul switch. I did a write up. It's under the towing section.

Hey everyone. Just purchased my 2015 Tundra 5 days ago (up from a 2006). I used this thread to really look into this and see how to get the integrated panel/controller. I called the parts department where I bought the truck and ended up talking with the manager. He said that Toyota is NOT going to deliver them. They were told that due to a legal issue, Toyota had to stop release of the integrated controller (he speculated that it was something to do with the integrated display). He said he understood that it was in the owners manual and all the marketing materials... they were just as surprised to hear it. He was told (and carries) to supply the Tekonsha P3 as the "certified" Tundra 2015 brake control as the alternative to the integrated. I called another Toyota shop around town and they said they had heard pretty much the same thing. I went ahead and bought the Tekonsha P3 (not from them...saved like $80) and I just read Tacouser's post on what he did with the panel. I may do that soon, but will do an old school brake controller mount in my brand new truck...little disappointing, but is what it is.

Here is my install. It was easy. And took maybe 30 to 40 min. at the most.
