Has Anyone in this Forum installed the Boost Auto Parts power folding Mirrors on their truck that didn't come with it?
If so I know you had to add the switch to fold but anyone used the original switch from toyota? I'm wanting to add this mod but I want to use the original switch. If anyone has done this please share how it was wired to use the original switch. Thanks for the help.

They are next on my list of mods! I'm a little confused by your question. Are you saying your tundra doesn't currently have powerfold as an option, you plan to add the powerfold harness from Boost, but you want to wire it into the Toyota OEM mirror switch that has the powerfold button on it? Ie no losing a blank to use the switch provided by Boost?
I've been curious about this and was going to ask Boost. They obviously have an option for if you have powerfold as an option so I doubt it would be difficult to wire their harness to the Toyota switch.

I'll definitely keep an eye on this to see what you find out.

I do not have power fold mirrors or the switch. I would have to buy the switch online. The other issue I have is that I don't have a blank. I would have to cut somewhere to add the switch they send and that is what I don't want to do. The new switch comes with wires see link: Power Auto Rear Mirror Folding Switch with Wire Harness 84872-52040 for Toyota Vios Rav4 Camry Scion Lexus https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q572QBK/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_UkijFbG0NS9AR

Ah, I'm planning to use the blank to the left of my tow/haul button but it would be nice to just update the existing mirror button. Maybe ask Boost? I've reach out before and they were pretty quick to respond. I bet they will tell that that after you purchase mirrors they will send a wire diagram to tie into the new button. I think you will still have to buy their harness but someone here might have a way around that.

I've seen this but this is installing the OEM mirrors that fold. Which mirrors did you installed? I'm wanting to install the boost auto parts Mirrors. Thanks for the help.

The boost part is designed to be plug and play feature to feature on your truck. So if you have the feature already it will work without modification. For features you don't have you have to write up to the harness like the post I shared shows.

Depending on if the mirrors you want also have reverse lights, there would be an extra harness that needs to be connected to a harness on the passenger side kick panel. This feature doesn't exist with OEM i don't think.

@jamestada thanks for the info! Based on everything thing I've read and from the videos, no Tundra's have the reverse light so you will have to wire that up if you want it.
I did really like how detailed the Boost videos were. Makes the task of installing these mirrors less daunting

Yes that is correct. The spot light to wire is the least of my worries, that is easy to wire. I'm just asking if anyone has installed the boost mirrors with the oem switch and originally you didn't have folding mirrors but using the wire harness they send you with the aftermarket switch that is like the OEM switch.

Curious if you bought the Boost mirrors and if you found a way to wire them to the OEM style switch.

I ended up finding used Platinum mirrors on Craigslist for cheap. But either way, the truck side wiring will be the same. Mirror side wiring will depend on the mirror, but most use the same as OEM wiring - like the Boost or A1 mirrors... with the exception of the spotlights.

Yes I did. By the way I recieved them today. I ordered with all the features available to my truck. I was able to add the original switch and made it work. Just finished installing like an hour ago. Works Beautifull and looks like original. I love it.

Just to clarify, when you ordered did you tell them you DID have folding mirrors or that you didn’t? I ordered and told them I didn’t have them, but would like to buy a switch to integrate as I won’t have a blank either.

which switch assembly did you buy to replace oem?

I told them I didn't have folding mirrors.
I had to run the wires they sent me to make the folding mirrors work. The difference is I did not use the switch they sent me. I used this one:

Well thanks to @Toshito texting and talking to me and sending me pictures and videos, I got it in with the oem style folding switch. Can’t thank him enough he’s such a nice guy. And the spotlights behind me are super bright. I opted to wire them up to the cargo light so I can turn them on whenever I want like when hooking the trailer up at night. Would never turn them on while driving, that’d be illegal....

pic isn’t great because it’s night time :).

I’ve been eyeballing either getting tow mirrors with power fold or trying to find platinum mirrors. I miss my old tow mirrors for visibility, so these have my interest piqued - plus they are available NOT CHROME (leaning toward the paintable covers).

I want to run factory power fold switch but want to terminate everything as though it was factory as well (I’ve got the crimper and pins to do it). Obviously the reverse lights wouldn’t be able to because they aren’t a factory option, but that’s fine.

You guys have had these Boost mirrors for a few months now - are you still liking them? They holding up well? Any shake? Electrical issues? Which level of reverse lights did you get? Switchback signals or not?

    thanks...

LOVE them, minimal shake but nothing that bothers me. No electrical issues. I got the switchback signals. But probably would match to whatever your headlights are. I got the high beams and put them on an on demand switch, I use them for setting up camp with the RV, they are super bright. Much prefer them to the OEMs I have seen.

@RainMan_PNW I don't have the mirrors yet but I've had some coworkers have them on other vehicles (ford and GMC I believe) and they praised the quality. For the reverse light they said, if you just want the area next to the truck slightly illuminated go with the lower option. If you want illumination and to have it help with backup camera or to see my trailer, get the high output. As long as rear windows are tinted, they shouldn't blind passengers back there

Again I'm going off what I heard, but I'm planning to buy these once I am able. Look forward to hearing members input too

are you still liking them? Love the new mirrors.
They holding up well? No complaints.
Any shake? Just a bit but nothing that bothers me, besides you don't drive looking at the mirrors all the time.
    Electrical issues? No issues yet.
Which level of reverse lights did you get? High output.
Switchback signals or not? Yes I got switchback.

About this: I want to run factory power fold switch but want to terminate everything as though it was factory as well (I’ve got the crimper and pins to do it).
Very easy to run the switch. Just buy this and easy to install.

Thanks. I’m kicking around the idea of doing the KTJO illuminated switch for it, but not sure I want to add that to the price tag of this mod. Also not sure they even have one in blue in stock any more.

@Toshito, Thank your for your help wiring my factory switch to the Boost Auto power fold mirrors. Worked out great. My Tundra is a second gen so the OEM plug and harness is a little different. Mine came wired for power fold mirrors but the switch didn't have the corresponding pins. In the pic below, the two wires on the right hand side of the plug (purple and tan right next to each other) run the OEM power fold.
In the pic below, the power fold optioned switch is the one on the left and the lame switch is on the right. You can see the lame one is missing the power fold pins even the the harness plug has them. I suppose I could have chased those two wires down and plugged them into the mirrors at the door, but it was far easier to splice at the switch.

The Boost Auto switch plug has black, red, blue and yellow wires. The blue and yellow wires are the fold controlling wires.

All you need to do is spice the blue into the purple of the OEM plug and the yellow into the tan and you are set. I just left the red and black wires of the Boost Auto unconnected.

....and after 20 mins of horsing around, I have a functioning OEM style power fold switch.

Azimuth, how did you get power to the mirrors for the power fold to work when splicing into the button/control you added? My 2012 is the same setup and factory wiring. I am attempting to run two female molex connectors from each mirror harness for the fold and retract ports. I also ordered the new mirror control button but am struggling with how to connect those wires (two from each mirror harness) to the factory harness for the fold and retract. I tried to T tap them together by splicing each corresponding + and - from each mirror to the tan and purple wires, but it keeps blowing a 7.5 A fuse under the dash.

You're pushing two power sources to the same accessory (mirrors). Ideally you want the power going to the switch to power your mirrors but you've still got power from the Boost harness as well. Disconnect the Boost power and try it.
