So, coming from the Audi world, I’ve always liked updating the interior of my vehicles. There’s lots of carbon, piano black, brushed aluminum and cool details in German interiors. I was thinking of buying a bezel for the dash and around the shifter and wrapping them in carbon fiber. Not the tape, actual carbon fabric and doing the multiple stage epoxy to make it pop. If that goes well, I would move on to the door trim. Ultimately I’d like to add the carbon flat bottom wheel to round it off. Thoughts?

Would be interested to see the results for sure. This was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this post.

I actually used ocarbon to do my B5 S4 back in the day. Awesome product. So, I’ve decided to forge ahead with this project in a slightly different manner - hydrodipping. If you haven’t seen it before - here’s a cool video.

    https://youtu.be/c4XHmm22rGA

No affiliation with this guy but cool video. I am doing the gauge surround (removing the trim rings that will be finished in a yet to be determined color), the shift surround, the sides of my TRD pro shifter, cup holder in the center console and the window switch trim. I’m also waiting on my Loncky Steering wheel cover in perforated black on sides, smooth on top and bottom with red stitching. Parts go into a local shop on Monday and hopefully I’ll be back together by Thursday. Pics to come

About $425 all in. High gloss clear. If I did a matte finish it would have been $350

i personally don’t like those sticker kits. It’s obvious that they are just stuck on after thoughts. After researching, and not wanting to drop $12-1500 on a real carbon setup I looked into hydro-dipping. The results look great - especially after being clear coated, is a fraction of the cost of traditional carbon, and isn’t that stick on stuff that looks cheap. For the price I figured I’d give it a shot.

Trying to come up with a cool color for the gauge bezels and trim around shifter. Any suggestions? Leaning towards white or red.

Getting there. Not too sure how crazy I am about this piece. I have not seen it in person. He said it was a tough piece to dip.

4C1397D3-13DF-4D49-BCD1-990A3B6B735C.jpg Well the trim project is done. I like how it came out - it looks damn close to real carbon. Also did the shift knob and updated the steering wheel. What do you think? Next up is a new head unit. Long overdue

Check out czd autoparts. Very high quality product...however uncertain about getting one over here since the company is in China and that virus is restricting shipments to the U.S.

Thanks. It kind of clashes a bit with the grey. That’s okay, I’ll eventually freshen the seats up with some Katzkins before too long. Black seats red stitching and a black headliner should work.

If you could live without trim for a minute I’m sure you could ship them to have the work done. I used a company called protofinish - they were awesome and their work quality is top notch.

Tried the paint method first but it started to chip over time.

Filled in the recessed areas of the bezel with acrylic, sanded, then vinyl wrapped it.
This is a fairly simple wrap project & holds up well through the heat of summer and everything being chucked in the drink wells.

This DIY KIT below has the Acrylic & enough 3M 2080 Series Vinyl to do the drink bezel plus the shifter trim.
I just need to edit the tutorial for it.

My interior is getting there. Short term is a new and badly needed head unit to finally connect my RVC. Maybe this week!? Anyhow, here’s a pic

    Looks good OP!
I wrapped a lot of trim over the last couple years with some 5D and Sott Carbons. Held up very well to date. Here a few links of the steering wheel, center console and trim work and after reinstalled.

I've actually been thinking about switching out for some newer carbon...:anonymous:
