So I'm new to the website and this is my first 4x4 build. I just purchased a 2007 4wd, dbl cab, 4.7L, TRD. This is not going to be an overnight transformation but hopefully a steady evolution where a man and his truck grow together.
I have spent a great deal of time researching what's possible. I am impressed with the dedication and love the "Tundra Nation" has for it's trucks. Moreover, I could not be more excited about becoming one of you! If you read my new member introduction you know me and more importantly, my family recently survived a near catastrophic interstate end over end. Needless to say, I'm a Tundra believer.

The concept for this truck is that it needs to be an everyday driver. It needs to be setup for Wisconsin winters and turn heads a little in the summer ;).
Mechanical but simple lines. A touch of chrome but I don't want to be a slave to a show vehicle.. it also needs to sit outdoors year round, so durable components are a must.

    GOALS;
    1. 4" lift, 18" Fuel Anza's, tires open to suggestions...!
    2. Headlight/taillight smoke LED upgrade.
    3. Front/rear bumper upgrade with built in winch and fog lights.
    4. Motor- Toyota aftermarket 4.7L upgrades...super charger?
    5. Exhaust- a little rumble but I want to hear the stereo.
    6. Stereo- Sirius upgrade.
    7. Safari Rack and storage system.
    8. Wide stable stance.

My trucks suppose to arrive by this Friday. Below are some pics forwarded to me by the dealership:
I look forward to every bodies input and ideas! Bill

You can do some Plasti dipping of the badges (or removal) and some other chrome spots and it'll add a whole new look.

    Subd!

That's a very nice clean truck. Congrats. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Nice maroon truck :). Not sure why you don't like that color name. Looks like a nice list of possibilities for the truck.
I would suggest a 3" lift to cut the cost down. 4" appears to be a reasonable cost if you use the stock struts and shocks. For the base price of a 4" you could get nice coilovers and rear shocks for 3" of lift. Of course I say that but want my truck to be taller.
Best tires I've had to date are Duratracs. Heard a lot of others love them too when doing tire research. The MT MTZs I had were crap. Trail Grapplers were good too. My wife enjoys her bfgoodrich AT T/A KOs.
    Def supercharge.
BAMufflers.com from dirty deads was my recent choice after much research and listening to sound clips. Can hear the stereo still.

Brian; Thank you for the input! Cost is definitely a controlling factor. I've looked at a lot of lift pics, I'm pretty sold on the 4". :)

The first thing I need to do is put tires on it. I'm going to have to use the stock rims for now. A leveling kit would be nice while planning for the 4" lift.

Actually the guy I had do this builds custom street rods. He ordered all the parts individually. Used a 2" block in the rear, and have coilovers and a sway bar to install for stability when the 35's go on. New steering arms and and extensions up front.
I couldn't be more happy about how it handles. Very smooth, especially how it holds the curves on the off-ramps. Literally couldn't feel any outside force or lean coming off from highway speed.

Coilovers and sway bar probably in 2 weeks. Do you a suggestion on the sway bar?

Sorry thought you said you already had the sway bar installed. I was curious as to which one you installed. I don't have any suggestions other than maybe the TRD sway bar. I'm curious if you would need to install both the front & rear sway bar? Or if you would just need to install the rear one? Curious to find out because I think I may install the TRD sway bar(s) later on.

I'm very fortunate that he's my neighbor. He's going to be doing more work on my truck like tinting my windows to 35% and possibly a major stereo upgrade. I'm building him some custom furniture pieces to trade for future work :)

Your local Toyota dealership should be able to order the TRD sway bar. You might want to reach out to Ramon here on the forum & see if it's something he can order for you as well. I plan on reaching out to him once I make a decision. I have some other items I'm going to be adding before I add the sway bar(s).

I agree @Roman from Toyota Of Cool Springs is the guy to get your TRD stuff from, he is top notch!

Can't beat that!! Its nice when things work out that way! My neighbors are great, but none of them can lift my truck for me! I can't bring much to the table for them either though. . .

A question has developed this week since the 4"lift. We now have a low tone resonance vibration. I can feel it in the floor, gas peddle, and lesser in the steering wheel. If I didn't know better I would think I had had heavy lugged tires but I don't. They're 275x70x18 conservative AT road tread. It starts as soon has the truck starts moving, 10 mph and up. The tone increases with the speed, increasing and decreasing with any fluctuation in speed. It's not louder with the window open. Neither heat gage is running hot. It almost seems like it's coming from under the floor board and not out at the wheels. the truck handles wonderfully, very smooth, no sticking, banging, grinding, clanking, etc.. I'm not going to see the mechanic until tomorrow.
Do any of you have any thoughts about this?

is not my area of expertise, did he do a differential drop? Did you have it aligned after? Guys that are in the know, could different angles from the lift affect something like that?

Thank you for your replies. My wonderful wife put her skills for researching to work today so when I woke up at 4pm today there would be some potential answers. She found that there is a great deal of discussion and opinions on this topic, so I'll share those with all of you.
The general consensus was that anything greater than a 3" lift should consider using spacers for the deferential as well. How big, not specific but think something that would keep the difference in that under 3" margin.
One case in point described was an 07 Crewmax with a 4" lift that described the exact same resonant vibration. After placing spacers the vibration stopped.
Some installers said it wasn't necessary until you get closer to the 6" lift. Others were more specific in stating that if you are doing any off-roading that spacers were highly recommended for any degree of lift.
My thought, taken from this and previously stated in my wife's research is, "Why Not". Even if it's just an added insurance to protect the differential from unnecessary stress.

So my plan is to talk to my installer about adding an 1.5" to 2" spacer for my differential. If he agrees it's a good idea and we do it, I will definitely post some pics from underneath and share what the resulting effect is.

Agree with moto on the wife thing.

I also agree that you should drop the diff. The thing is that it cant drop much. The back side of the dif is set in place, only the front drops. This rotates the diff and really doesn't amount to much drop. I am not sure if there are any other methods of dropping the front diff than what i had from the Toytec kit.

Here is what i have: http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...-for-07UP-4x4-Tundra-08-UP-Sequoia_p_366.html
Cheap enough to try it out to see if it fix's the vibs.
