My understanding is with SR5, you gain marker light and signal light. With upper trims, you lose functions, including marker light, at least without some more wiring. Doesn't make sense, I know.

From what I understand, you lose the marker light. You still get the signal light, heat, etc. No BSM function either.

I'm pretty sure you can get the tow mirrors with BSM both OEM and at autoanything or whatever they're called.

Take a picture of the connector plugged into the mirror. I have a 2010 Limited and everything works except the marker lights. Well actually the right marker light, because I just finished the left side. Take a few close ups of the plug and post them.

I did read about after-market non-Toyota tow mirrors that claimed to work with BSM function. I saw that for the first time quite recently. I have no idea how well they work (I haven't seen any review). I was talking about Toyota tow mirrors. I should've made that clear.

I think I will call the dealership tommorow I knew the BSM wouldn't work but it is hard to believe with oem mirrors that the marker lights wouldn't work when everything else does. They come on when I start truck but go off right away, seems like there should be some kind of setting change that would correct this but who knows.

I read about them very recently too. But, Toyota doesn't offer tow mirrors with BSM? I thought they did but I could be wrong. I've been thinking of changing to tow mirrors and I have the BSM. I definitely would not switch if it would negate that feature, too easy for little cars to hide in that blind spot on the right rear quarter.

I knew the BSM wouldn't work that dosen't matter to me with the big split mirrors on the tow mirrors I really don't think it will be a problem but the marker lights are there I would think they should work.

I'm not sure about the marker lights functionality on upper trim levels but my OEM tow mirrors do have running lights on my SR5. That's pretty crazy if they truly don't work on the upper trim levels...

I have the tow mirrors from 1aauto on my 17 1794 and the BSM and the turn signal works but you have to wire up and accessory wire to get the clearance light to work.

So you mean with my SR5 CM, I actually gain a luxury that I lost from not getting a Platinum or other tiger model! If so where would I get one of these awesome tow mirrors and are they hard to swap out with my SR5 meaning PNP easy install!

Yes. It is a simple swap. I love those running lights and signal lights.

You could either get Toyota oem mirrors or an after-market ones, such as 1A Auto. Toyota mirrors are about the twice the price, but I opted to go with Toyota tow mirrors because of some reports of vibration of non-Toyota mirrors. Toyota mirrors are rock solid (worth the money, IMO).

Talked to the dealer today apparently it is true with the oem Toyota tow mirrors when they are installed on a platinum or 1794 edition the marker lights will not work with the existing wiring. The good news is I don't think it is going to be hard to rewire. By the way I got my mirrors from Rowman he had them painted to match for me and did a great job we are definitely lucky to have him on this forum .

So if I get these, I would get the signal and running lights to work on my 2017 SR5 CM, I would loose the power mirror function though, correct!

Power mirror adjust still works with tow mirrors. If you have mirror heater (cold weather package), heater works also. For SR5, you don't lose any functions. You just gain signal lights and running lights.

Does anyone know what wiring needs added to the upper trim levels to gain the running lights? Installed mine this week from 1AAuto and everything works (signal, heat, power fold) except the side running light.

A1Auto told me Friday that when replacing stock mirrors with towing mirrors, it must be apples to apples. I had inquired about any of their towing mirrors being compatible with my Platinum. I was told no, they will not "work". At this point I'm wondering if you can't even make any electrical connections, or perhaps you will lose a few features with the replacements. Do you have a platinum? I noticed your mirrors are chromed. I haven't been able to find any chrome mirrors either. They're all black and incompatible as well.

I have a platinum and bought oem Toyota mirrors I knew I would lose my BSM but my marker lights don't work either. Spoke to Toyota and apparently there is none available that everything will work on the platinum or 1794 edition. I am 90% sure when I get time I will be able to wire the marker light so that they will work. I am not sure about A1auto but from Toyota I believe the mirrors only come in black. I ordered mine from Rowman and had them painted to match.

I want tow mirrors but won't give up the BSM. It's crazy that Toyota didn't make this compatible. Regardless, I've been looking for a way to add a BSM warning light to the inside of the cabin, maybe on the plastic mirror panel, so that it's easier to view. If anyone knows a way to do this those of us wanting BSM and tow mirrors (or just a more obvious BSM alert) would be indebted.

Yes, I have a platinum. My pic hasn't been updated since the addition of the tow mirrors - still shows the factory chrome. I personally like that the tow mirrors are black as I thought the factory chrome mirrors was too much chrome.

1AAuto has tow mirrors with BSM.
