traveling at speed limit of 85 with AC set to Auto and 65 degrees on a recent warm morning At 8 AM. Suddenly the windshield freezes over and I cannot see a thing. After a few seconds of braking and a rapidly overtaking car honking to pass, I turned on the defrost and cleared the windshield. Lucky for me the road was straight and I steered straight enough that the car behind did not hit me. I am assuming that when I go into the dealer for service in 500 miles that they will tell me I have an AC problem that suddenly was ok, putting out what it should have.

That is pretty crazy. Glad that you stayed calm and drove straight. Could have been bad. Not sure what happened

This happened to me while driving down to Texas one year. I was towing, and it was early morning and boom....windshield and exterior mirrors fogged up like what happened to you.

Didn't think about it until your thread.

Do you remember if you had the air recirculation button on?

There's something in the Owner's Manual cautioning about this, might have to look it up.

There used to be an issue, back in the Gen 1s, I remember, where condensation would build up in the vent system with recirc constantly on. This would lead to moldy smells, and occasionally blasts of very moist air across the windshield. Years ago I had a good buddy who was a Yota Master Tech. He advised to always cycle the fresh air option for a bit while driving to vent out the whole HvAC system.

Well, there ya' go:sorry: When the same thing happened to me (both times) the Recirculation was on but had just then timed-out.Had to crank up the fan-speed and make sure AC was on as well as Mirror Heat.Didn't take long to clear-off though.

I think it may happen more to the recirculation being on, but I was shocked when it happened. Thankfully I wasn't on a road with a lot of curves.

    Happens so fast huh?

You're from Texas?!? Don't know about the 85MPH TX Hwy 130 toll road? And I-10 west of Kerrville and I-20 in west TX are both posted at 80.

We actually have a SR that has a speed limit of 90. It's literally in the middle of no where in South Western UT. But it's still a thing. Haha we also have the salt flats where there are no speed limits. :plane:

Holy crap. My truck tops out at 98 mph.

Now the Lexus can cruise that easy.

I double checked. It's 85... I couldn't remember. But I may or may not have done over a hundo on it. And I may or may not have done well over that hundo on my last bike. :spy: Haha they've done a few top gear episodes on the straight away.

@richard656, when was your cab air filter last changed? Dirty cab filters are the main cause of HVAC troubles, especially with fogging windows. Reduced airflow from a dirty cab filter can cause the evaporator core to freeze up, then when it thaws, you get a blast of cool humid air out the ducts. It may not be your issue, but I'd start there. Easy to check, and cheap enough.
