A few companies make glass coatings, im pretty sure carpro does, its called fly by or something like that. I hear its not really worth it though, unless it's brand new glass

I usually use Griots glass pads along with their glass polish and glass clay. On occasion I’ve used Barkeeper’s Friend for really stubborn deposits. It’s always done a very good job. I do have CarPro Ceriglass that I plan to use soon. It did a great job on my shower doors.

I ordered auto geek on the 25th and hasn't even shipped, I had to write them to ask why it hasn't shipped. They let me know 2 items are on backorder and the whole shipment won't go out until they come back in stock. 10 days at the least. Gee, thanks for the notification.

Anyway, one was the carpro clarify window cleaner. I need a window cleaner, interior/exterior...what would you guys recommend for something i can get local...auto zone or walmart?
Also best pad/towel or whatever to clean windows with?

    Thanks

Invisible glass works very well. Griot pmf towels are great and you can usually get at pep boys and auto zone

New to the forum and got my first Tundra back in November. This is my first black vehicle and WOW! I love the black but it is a full time job trying to keep this thing clean. Also, I'm pretty new to detailing as well. All the different washes, clays, ceramics, waxes, and polishes are pretty overwhelming. The main thing I'm looking to get is a nice shine and to protect/repel dirt and road grim.

Right now the process I'm doing is rinse, wash with CG honey dew wash using pressure washer and foam cannon, hand washing with microfiber mitt, rinsing, then applying CG Hybrid V07 Sealant with microfiber cloth. It looks good for a few days but I'm sure there are additional products I can use to get a better shine and more protection. I prefer to apply by hand. Trying stay away from using a orbital polisher/buffer if possible.

Welcome to the forum. Your black Tundra is not a color....it's a lifestyle. There are tons of products out there....so far beyond confusing it's not even funny. Are you satisfied with your results? Are there any defects in the paint that you'd want to correct?

Lifestyle, no crap lol! I like the results I'm getting now, I just wish the results would last a little longer lol. Not really many defects in the paint at 5,000 miles, just minor scratches and swirls. I just want to make sure I protect the paint as best as possible and keep that nice deep black shine!

I would change your sealant cg doesn’t seem to preform well. I started there also but you will find after some digging around here there are much better products. If your looking for easy when I would switch to griots ceramic spray you can buy local and it performs very well. You are gonna need a light polish to remove swirl marks griots also makes great products for that. If you want to go deeper into the rabbit hole with coating and such just ask we will be happy to give you advice.

Yes, using auto wash and drying with microfiber towel. Barely noticeable, even under the light.

Thanks! I will give the Griot's Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax Spray Sealant a try for sure. What is the other Griots polish product you mentioned about removing the swirls? I'd like to give that a try as well. Would I apply the polish and then the wax after washing?

Let’s get @War Machine @briarpatch suggestions on correction of the swirls. I would think you would be good with a correction cream but I would like to hear what they think I don’t do much black with so few miles.

Didn't know this thread was a thing but I'm sure glad it is! I recently got a black tundra also @GT87, and man does she look good in black. I actually used to be a detailer at a Toyota dealership so I like to take especially good care of my vehicles appearance.

Anyway I'll be contributing to this thread and hopefully learning a bunch!

First time doing a wax on the inferno,
Stripped the truck with dawn, clay bar from CC and I used their synthetic quick detailer for lube because summit was out of their actual clay luber.

I applied CC Extreme Top Coat with microfiber applicators in circles, shown in pic 2.
Let it sit for 15 minutes than buffed away. The truck was left with more swirls and minor scratches than I expected to see after the coat, making me think I may have missed something.

Can someone provide insight as to if I did something wrong or if I should add extra step next go around?

Overall, I am extremely happy with the color it brought out of the paint and it gave me that burnt orange look I was looking for.

You would need to compound and/or polish to remove swirls and scratches. Clay can add micro scratches sometimes too.

X2 with pudge but don’t use cg products to do it. There are much better products at pep boys or autozone. After corrections I would recommend a sealer that you could spray on and wipe off with some good mf towels. If you chose to go this route hit up the thread and we can get more specific.

That was my thought. It’s a little unclear if the scratches already were on the paint already or if the posted process was the culprit.

Try rubbing the surface with a dryer sheet, it removes the charge so they won’t stick.

I use that on my powder measures (I reload my rifle bullets), and it keeps the powder flakes from sticking to the side of the plastic powder measure, so it may work on plastic dashes with dog hair.

    Worth a try anyway.
