Yes...nearly ALL locksmiths stock and program Key Fobs now (though they may not have every key fob out there)...it's a big money maker for them and they are still cheaper than dealers. Hell, our local ACE hardware has a big selection of key fobs and can program them, so you might try there as well as your local locksmith.

    Got this sorted out.

I used the links and the posts above to program the fob, then I used this website link to program the transponder chip inside the key itself.

I think the method you listed for the key fob programming only pertains to trucks with the factory installed keyless entry system and not the RS3000 system. I have the RS3000 system and this is dealer installed, I think. correct me if I'm wrong.

I just got around to trying again for about the 50th time with the instructions you gave. No mater what I do I cannot get my truck to even prompt what mode it’s in, let alone program the remotes I bought months ago! My last time trying, about 10 minutes ago, my truck’s unlock stopped working! I got it working again, but I was so frustrated I couldn’t even think to try again! I’m sooooo damn pissed right now!!! I guess I’ll have to take it to the dealer...dammit!!!!!!

I would recommend taking it to the dealer who sold you the key fobs on the off chance they sold you the wrong ones, so at least that hassle would be eliminated. Hopefully that don't charge you more than 1/2 hour of book time (probably $60-70).

I purchased a used/ new to me key FOB. It’s square in shape with 2 buttons on front, lock and unlock, and a red panic button on the back. The ny,her on the back are identical. FCC ID ELVATDD.
    It’s for a 2006 DC.
I took the FOB to the dealer and they said that their techs could not program it. I’ve tried with no luck.
Any advice on how to do this. The FOB has been sitting in my center console for years since I’ve given up, then I stumbled upon this forum.

    Thanks.

So you are saying you had a known good key fob for your truck and you bought a used one with the same FCC ID (ELVATDD)?

Do you know where your Toyota was originally sold from? If it's a SET/GSR (SouthEast Region or Gulf States Region) Toyota, it probably has a port installed system. If you don't know, go to toyota.com\owners register your truck and click on view specs...

    upload_2020-4-20_9-54-16.jpg

    Then look for this...

    upload_2020-4-20_9-56-3.jpg

Does it say port or factory?

Ok, well, your selling dealer is Marietta Toyota in GA (only about 30 miles from me!) so your's is a SET vehicle.

look at these two posts...you may want to confirm the number on your square black box behind the kick panel. If the instructions attached to that post don't work then I would start to think that the FOB you have is bad (especially since the dealer said they couldn't program it...are they a SET dealer?). In that case, you might want to try a new FOB, since the one you bought was used and you don't know for sure if it worked before you got it.

Is this the control box? It was behind the drivers side kick panel....

I think I found out why my FOBS won’t program. I have a BlueDriver scanner and today I was just goofing around with so I decided to do “scan”. My scanner found code B1242 Wireless Door Lock Tuner Circuit. Now I have figure what to do next. I Googled it, of course, but there is a plethora of things to investigate! So the journey continues to program the remotes I’ve had for almost a year! Any ideas???

A tech stream or snap on scanner should be able to get into the door computer and be able to better diagnose any issues.

How did that process work? (using the original key fob). I’ve never thought of upgrading the key fob like you did. But I have to admit for $17 you did great!

How do I know which fob my 2002 ac limited needs. I looked at Toyota owners site but it doesn't specify port or factory. It just lists keyless entry as a feature. I'd really like to get a fob for this truck since the previous owner had a new ignition installed and the keys are not the same now.

@speedtre My fob has the red light but on my toyota owners it doesn't say anything about a keyless entry. Since I have an 03 Do I have the RS3200 and whats is the difference between they two?

You need to read this link and pay attention to the links in it that tell you how to find your ECU for the remote entry. Once you find that, it should have your FCC ID that you then buy a key fob for.

Yea...you have an RS3200...not sure what you mean by difference between the two unless you mean the difference between an RS3200 and RS3000...then you can read these..

I’m just waiting for meso designs to release the flip keys for the 4runners so I can get the single piece setup for the tundra in a slick color matched case
