It was factory size before(can't remember). Now I have a 27F and the battery hangs over the end of the tray by around 1.5" or so.

I had a wind noise you describe but I also had a bent drivers door. When you drive try sticking a finger in the top door seal and see if anything gets louder.

Not during my ownership. I'll check the hinges though.

I'll give that a try. Thanks!

Never realised there was a spring behind the ‘Oil Seal’ on our rear axles. This is the crappy NAPA Seal (AKA Dorman) that came with the ‘kit’. Their NAPA website shows a picture of a different seal that looks OEM. I would have not put this NAPA part in based on feel alone but never saw the parts as they were delivered to the Stealer. Anyways the OEM Seal supposedly has a spring behind it, as well. Tech learned an expensive lesson.

Spoke with Diode Dynamics today about their Relay and some of their bulbs. Their website states that their relay is for non-daytime running lights, but should work on our Tundras. Their Relay has 8 pins and the rep said if mine looks like theirs it should work. Do not want to wrestle this thing just to find out its not going to work.

    Does our OEM Relay on 2002 have 8 pins? @Tundra2 @FrenchToasty @empty_lord

Do you have daytime running lights? Mine are on the actual headlights on 2002.

Think it was 8 pin. Not 100% sure, and cannot confirm since truck is at the shop.

Day running lights? Parking lights? (Turn signals lit?) I leave all my lights on all the time with a 2 notch rotation on the stalk towards engine bay.

    Is that what you mean?

My cheap $12 relay works fine for me now that @empty_lord helped me out with Scion XB plugs converting 3157s? To 1157s

Here is the cool springs link to plug socket you will need for LED parking lights in the front turn signals. Huge thanks to @empty_lord.

It's not an option on the stalk. It is a separate relay I believe. Turn your lights off on the stalk and check if they are dimly lit still.

Anyone know where I can get the bar to lower the spare tire? I don't have any of the original jack kit. I bought a bottle jack and lug nut wrench but they won't do me any good if I can't get the spare down lol.

I see a few kits on eBay but they are expensive... Junkyard would be my suggestion.

    Again with @FrenchToasty's photo.

Highlighted blue is my option the stalk

Highlighted in red is not an option on my stalk. Assuming that this is the foglights? Since I do not see it on the left side of dash in background.
    20200528_173526.jpg

If thats the case then no, my truck does not have that option.

You can buy them from junkyards. Hopefully your spare pulley doen’t have a ‘lug nut lock key’ on it. Tire center forgot to put mine back in the tool kit years ago.

Fast forward 6 years and a new set of tires are being installed at the same place. Wanted the ‘best old’ tire for swap out on the ‘old old’ spare, but couldn’t drop it due to the lug key being ‘lost’ from the prior install.

They made it right by buying me a new spare turn funnel, but I was the one that had to figure out and make the tire drop. Took some ingenuity.

Thank @FrenchToasty. It was his picture I borrowed for editing.

Your stalk looks like that minus the fog switch?

If so, mine is the same then. No DRL on my truck. Lights are off completely if the switch on stalk is off.

The Hellwig rear anti-roll bar that I installed on my 2002 back in 2003 is installed with the end links mounted to the frame ahead of the axle, the new bars are mounted up similar to the TRD bar with the end links behind the axle. I asked Hellwig about this... here is their answer.

From Hellwig: They just wanted to change it not sure why... they both work great it was about 8-10 years ago.

Ends up I won’t need to do this Relay change up after all. My OEM horns came in but only one works. There is a H and L horn. I was planning to do the H in conjunction with my 2 originals.

Since it was broken, I put the Low horn on and the sound is slightly louder but not worth me buying $50 in LEDs and $60 in a Relay. Can’t say I didn’t try.

Just dropped off my Toy wheel bearings, and the rest of the kit needed after conferring with Roman.

Spoke with the tech again. He quoted the full job at roughly $450 for drum service, backing plates, parking brake levers, and bearings.

    Does that sound right?

Also, for all the 1st gen folks here that enjoyed my poo-poo story from a while back.
Popped into the same gas station. They installed a paper towel dispenser in the bathroom. I'll be damned. Lol

    20200528_184124.jpg

My face when I saw the paper towel dispenser.

Drove Pop's 5 speed Nissan frontier to town to deliver the bearings. Millennial anit-theft device my ass.

Man thats a great price. My bearing job (Labor and Parts) for one rear wheel was $650 at the Botch Garage and way more than that at the Stealer on Round 2. Hope your Tech knows what he is getting into!

Confirmed my axle I removed was original so I got it shipped back to CVJ for core refund. 18 years old. That's a good run.

I think I may keep my aftermarket and throw a new boot on it for practice and to have a spare.

Bruce only drives Toyota vehicles. He bought a 1st gen new, and traded it for a 3rd gen a few years ago. (The only bad thing I can say about the man.)

I'm fairly certain that he knows what he is doing, and what the work entails. Him, and my pop go way back to high skoo.

I suppose worst case scenario I take my truck to the stealer for the 1st time since 2006, and pay electric boogaloo part 2 kinda moolah.

The factory Sport bars have a mounting system that is unique to 1st gen Tundra... mine is a Hellwig bar.

Im familiar with hellwigs but not yours. I was more referencing mine because I was looking at your axel for the mounting points.
